The primary aim of the project is to empower women belonging to minority communities, enabling them to break free from the limitations of their households and localities. The project strives to empower these women to take on leadership positions and stand up for their rights, both individually and collectively. It emphasises their access to various services, resources, skills, and opportunities, while also advocating for their rightful share in government development initiatives. An integral aspect of this endeavour involves fostering economic empowerment among the women undergoing training, with the ultimate goal of fostering their self-sufficiency and bolstering their confidence as valued contributors to society.

Targeted intervention on HIV/AIDS
StateStates
Assam
D-VERDS's Health Programme prioritizes the prevention of HIV infections in high-risk groups, with a particular focus on its Targeted Intervention Programme supported by the Assam State AIDS Control Society. This program is a potent strategy for curbing HIV transmission in the community, particularly among those most vulnerable, such as female sex workers (FSWs). Unprotected sexual intercourse is the primary mode of HIV transmission in India, accounting for over 90% of cases. The disease tends to spread within networks of individuals who engage in high-risk behavior, involving multiple sexual partners.
The objective of this programme is to reduce transmission rates among these marginalized populations. A crucial tactic involves direct intervention through multifaceted approaches. This spans behavior change communication, counseling, healthcare support, STD treatment, and fostering an environment conducive to behavioral shifts.
