Programs

  • International Championships & Meets Programme

Operating internationally, it hosts a range of events such as World Athletics Permit Meets, Asian Championships, and multi-sport competitions like the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games, elevating athletics on a global stage.

  • National Championships & Grand Prix Programme

In India's vast landscape, it plays a vital role by organizing numerous national events, including National Championships for seniors and juniors, along with a wide range of meets covering various athletic disciplines, ensuring ample opportunities for aspiring athletes at both the national and regional levels.

  • Domestic Meets Programme

It hosts a range of significant domestic events, including the National Open Championships for seniors and juniors, the Federation Cup, National Inter-State Championships, National Open Race Walking Championships, National Cross Country Championships, Indian Grand Prix (comprising four legs), National Youth Championships, and various Zonal Meets, providing a platform for athletes to showcase their talent and compete at different levels within India.

  • Junior Development Programme

Prioritizing the development of young athletes nationwide, it actively runs two distinctive programmes. The National Inter-District Juniors Athletics Meet (NID-JAM) stands out as a unique initiative, selecting champions from over 260 districts in India and providing them with a national platform to nurture their talents. Approximately 3,500 budding athletes benefit from this programme, with each district sending 13 athletes, a coach, and a manager after a qualification tournament within their district. This initiative has successfully conducted 12 editions of NID-JAM, involving a maximum of 3,500 athletes from 260 districts.

Additionally, the organisation collaborates with the IAAF to promote grassroots athletics through the IAAF-AFI Kids Athletics programme, launched in 2013. This initiative encourages schools and their students across 19 states in India to engage in physical activity and embrace athletics, fostering a culture of fitness and sportsmanship from a young age.
