The Domestic Workers Sector Skill Council conducts Short Term Training (STT) at PMKVY Training Centres, aiming to assist Indian candidates who are school/college dropouts or unemployed. These centres offer training aligned with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) along with Soft Skills, Entrepreneurship, Financial, and Digital Literacy training. Training durations range from 150 to 300 hours based on job roles. The STT, part of the Centrally Sponsored Centrally Managed program, is administered through the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). The objectives of PMKVY 3.0 (2020-21) include creating informed skilling choices for youth, supporting their skill training and certification, encouraging private sector participation in sustainable Skill Centres, and benefiting around 8 lakh youth during the scheme period.

The Domestic Workers Sector Skill Council manages the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), aiding industries in efficient skill development. NAPS, backed by the Government of India, financially supports establishments conducting apprenticeship training, eliminating infrastructure needs. Mandating apprenticeship programs for establishments with 30+ employees (including contractual staff), it's optional for 4-29 staff and not allowed for smaller setups.

Apprenticeship involves Basic Training, offering theoretical and practical instructions, and On-Job Training (OJT) at workplace premises, enriching practical knowledge. Establishments receive 25% of the stipend (up to Rs. 1500/- per month per apprentice) and up to Rs. 7500/- for fresher candidates' in-house theory training. Engaging apprentices exempts establishments from ESI or PF obligations, and candidates with basic education in job roles need no classroom training, reducing attrition rates through relevant job role train

The programme ensures students are equipped for work at each stage, blending professional skills and general education, offering flexible entry and exit points, enhancing employability, and facilitating progression from vocational backgrounds post 10+2. With the certificate, diploma, advanced diploma, and three-year B.Voc degree options, it caters to diverse educational paths.

The Domestic Workers Sector Skill Council focuses on the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) via PMKVY. RPL certifies individuals in unregulated sectors, benefiting over 47 lakh people. It aligns skills with NSQF, boosting employability and providing education alternatives. Free participation, Government certification, monetary rewards, and digital literacy are benefits. Three years of accidental insurance is also provided.

RPL follows five steps: Mobilization, Counselling, Orientation, Final Assessment, and Certification. It identifies skills, counsels, provides orientation, assesses, and awards certificates and cash payouts. Pass percentages vary by NSQF levels, encouraging skill development and certification.
