The Electronic Industries Association of India was established in 1967 as the pioneer industry association championing electronics hardware during Ind Read moreia's nascent stages in the electronics industry. Over time, ELCINA has evolved into an influential platform for collaboration among electronics and IT manufacturers. ELCINA actively engages with the government, offering guidance on policy matters and the business landscape. It forges connections with technical institutions and business support organizations within India and internationally, facilitating business expansion and disseminating information on technological advancements. As liberalization took hold, ELCINA shifted its focus to providing professional and value-added services to the Electronics Community. Initially emphasizing the promotion of manufacturing components as industry foundations, ELCINA has broadened its scope to encompass the development of entire electronics and IT hardware. Its present emphasis lies in promoting the manufacture of: • Electronic components • Industrial/professional electronics • Defence/strategic electronics • Electronic manufacturing services • Diverse burgeoning sectors in electronics like Medical, Automotive, Electronic Design, Embedded Systems, among others ELCINA is dedicated to supporting the value chain for Consumer Electronics, Telecom, and Computers/IT. It works to align their mutual interests with those of equipment, material, and machinery producers, aiming to expand manufacturing. ELCINA firmly believes that collaborative efforts between the Government and the industry are essential to invigorate manufacturing and fuel an IT/Electronics surge, thereby significantly contributing to India's development. Continuously advocating for changes that fortify India's electronics and IT manufacturing infrastructure, ELCINA aims to position India as a frontrunner in the global electronics landscape.

  • Self empowerment programme

ELCINA's Self Empowerment Programme (SEPs) encompass a broad spectrum of activities aimed at fostering growth and proficiency within the electronics/IT sector. Below is an overview of these activities along with brief descriptions:
    1. Environment Management System (EMS) and Cleaner Technologies: ELCINA assists in creating awareness, obtaining certifications, implementing plant-level practices adhering to ISO14000 standards. Additionally, the organization facilitates factory visits and shares successful case studies.
    2. Customer Satisfaction Enhancement: ELCINA works closely with electronics/IT companies to develop models and checklists for boosting customer satisfaction.
    3. Competitive Strategies Development: Using web-based tools from renowned experts like Michel Porter's On The Frontier, ELCINA provides active support to electronics/IT manufacturers in devising competitive strategies. This involves extensive factory-level assistance and guidance.

  • Elcina CKM

ELCINA's core focus on industry competitiveness revolves around self-empowerment. To achieve this objective, the organisation conducts seminars, workshops, and training programs designed to tackle the pressing challenges faced by the electronics industry. These initiatives center on contemporary management systems and emerging technologies that demand proficiency. The emphasis is on quality systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and Six Sigma, along with management frameworks like EICC and Environmental Legislation (RoHS, WEEE, EuP). These are vital in addressing global warming, a threat to our very survival.
Recognizing the growing complexity and costliness of these management systems, standards, tools, and global legislation, there arose a need for a Centre for Knowledge Management (CKM). This centre is designed to assist the industry in navigating these intricate issues.

  • ELCINA Micro & Small Industries Forum (EMSIF)

The ELCINA Executive Committee has decided to launch a Micro & Small Industries Forum (MSIF) aimed at bolstering and advancing our Micro and Small industries to higher echelons.
The Electronic Systems Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) Sector is experiencing rapid growth, supported by governmental policies aimed at attracting substantial investments. However, numerous Micro, Small, and even Medium-scale electronics enterprises have encountered viability challenges. These difficulties have emerged due to reduced and zero tariffs under ITA-1, along with trade barriers, rendering many units unprofitable. The establishment of MSIF aims to assist small units in accessing these benefits and attaining competitiveness.
