Activities are focused in the areas of Mycology, Plant Pathology, Bacteriology, Virology, Phytoplasmology and Nematology. It provides a platform for researchers and scientists worldwide to share their achievements in research relating to this field and also facilitates information sharing on latest developments in plant pathology and professional lives of its members. It organizes special sessions, workshops, symposiums, lectures and panel discussions to facilitate sharing of new information and research results, exchange of ideas and announcements of new products & services in the field. Apart from organizing regular events, the society also publishes Indian Phytopathology, a quarterly journal on plant pathology with the aim of promoting quality research in the field. It also distributes various awards in memory of eminent plant pathologists to honour the contributions of subject matter experts to research and new developments in this field.
