1989
Established in 1989 by Nemichandra Jain, Natarang Pratishthan, an organisation based in North India, emerged to fill the vacuum in documenting theatre Read more activities in the region. Originally, it began as a personal collection of theatre-related materials, such as newspapers, books, and scripts. However, it has now grown into a valuable resource centre for Indian and Asian theatre, including rare collections acquired for archival purposes. Today, Natarang Pratishthan not only preserves theatre history but also actively supports theatre activities by promoting weekend theatre projects and festivals. It stands as one of India's most comprehensive research centres for theatre studies. Moreover, it fosters intellectual discussions through seminars and dialogues on various theatre aspects, contributing to the continual development of the art form. Looking forward, Natarang Pratishthan intends to enhance its facilities and resources by incorporating technological advancements, documenting significant productions, and establishing dedicated spaces for research and viewing. It also plans to publish research documents, offer fellowships, and create an arts complex to further its mission of preserving and promoting performing arts, literature, and culture in India and Asia.
