When we engage with farmers, we emphasise the value of cultivating climate-smart crops like millets, which grow in any kind of soil and use the least amount of water (rain-fed). They also require no chemical input.
If consumers do not comprehend and routinely consume the crop, then only half of the task has been done. SHODH collaborates with urban slum communities to combat malnutrition. Rich in nutrition, fibre, and micronutrients, the components grown by a struggling farmer, such as millets, also have medicinal qualities that can aid in the healing process of many lifestyle disorders, cancer, and celiac disease by enhancing immunity.
