Society for the Promotion of Women and Child Welfare, or SPOWAC in the realm of social welfare, has marked two decades of unwavering dedication to the Read more welfare and development sector. Over these twenty years, it has made consistent progress and diligently implemented diverse welfare programmes for the betterment of society's vulnerable segments. As a national organisation, it holds a nationwide presence, facilitated by a committed board and accomplished professionals who have established themselves as experts in their respective fields. It envisions a civil society free from malevolent influences, achieved through the empowerment of women and children. It raises awareness through concerted efforts, empowering vulnerable sections of society via education and skill development. This empowerment enables individuals to realize their true potential and self-esteem while collectively working towards eradicating deeply ingrained social issues. Its objectives encompass the comprehensive welfare of vulnerable segments of society, with a particular focus on women and children. It aims to establish and sustain institutions dedicated to providing such welfare. Additionally, SPOWAC seeks to revive and promote the rich traditional arts and crafts of India, facilitating opportunities for classical dance and music traditions at performance levels.

Healthcare Programmes
StateSPOWAC's efforts to improve menstrual hygiene in rural and semi-urban Delhi involved collaborations with ENACTUS and Johnson & Johnson. ENACTUS helped acquire and distribute affordable sanitary pads while promoting hygiene awareness. Johnson & Johnson supplied subsidized napkins for distribution. The "WASH" project educated communities on water conservation, handwashing, and hygiene through various activities. "MAMTA" focused on tuberculosis awareness with door-to-door campaigns. SPOWAC facilitated the "Delhi Annashree Yojana" for food security and organised nutritional camps, health camps, and clinics to promote personal hygiene and provide free medicines.

Wara Wara Project
SPOWAC and a partnering organization have launched a project in Dwarka's Sec-1 slums, designed to engage children in informal learning activities. This initiative aims to foster cognitive development and discover hidden talents among the children. The project involves selecting a theme, creating a wall-mounted tree, and having the children illustrate a corresponding story. Additionally, a mini library named "Wall-O-Books" is established, encouraging children to contribute stories and study materials. Children take on leadership roles, managing the library, documenting decisions, and planning for the future.

Education Programmes
StateIts Education Programme's goal is to reduce school dropouts and reintegrate them, with a focus on first-generation learners, offering flexible instruction to enhance self-confidence.
ENGLISH LITERACY CLASSES aim to achieve spoken English proficiency, using computer-based audio-visual aids in a one-year course. Moreover, ADULT EDUCATION provides career-relevant training for those above 14 without formal education. The TEACH INDIA PROGRAMME collaborates with the Times of India to educate and empower individuals aged 18-35. UMEED KI KIRAN, a joint initiative with the Rotary Club of South Delhi East, works to reintegrate non-school-going children aged 7-14 into formal education. -
Project Dignity
StateIn collaboration with another NGO, this project aims to offer fundamental computer training to widowed and separated women, as well as their children. The primary goal is to empower them with essential skills that can enhance their employment prospects. By equipping them with computer skills, the project seeks to broaden their opportunities for finding suitable employment.

Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Programme
StateThe PC-PNDT Act was enacted in India to combat female foeticide and address the declining sex ratio by prohibiting prenatal sex determination. SPOWAC actively engages in implementing this legislation at the grassroots level. Its objectives encompass creating awareness, training nodal officers on PC-PNDT, and reducing female foeticide. The initiative targets Anganwadi workers, pregnant women, and all females. It involves organising workshops, seminars, surveys, and documentation to systematically address the issue. SPOWAC maintains close collaborations with healthcare centres, monitors local diagnostic facilities, and takes legal action against violators. Continual monitoring of pregnancy outcomes, abortions, and expectant mothers is a key aspect.

Rural Development Programme
This programme aims to bridge the gap between research scientists and farmers by establishing dedicated workshop training facilities in District Palwal, Haryana. The training covers supplementary income sources and emerging food processing technologies through visual aids and classroom sessions. Special programmes empower farm women and prioritize farmers from SC/ST categories. In the realm of sports and festivals, annual volleyball tournaments and cultural events serve as platforms for spreading awareness on social issues, farming methods, microfinance, and sanitation. Remedial teaching initiatives focus on children's welfare, providing homework assistance, fostering a strong educational foundation, and supplying educational materials and recreational toys to approximately one hundred children annually.
