Dating back to 1959, the Vishwa Yuvak Kendra (VYK) has a storied past rooted in the recognition by the executive committee of the Indian Assembly of Y Read moreouth of the necessity for a national youth center to advance youth work scientifically. Established by the Indian Youth Centres Trust on August 10, 1961, VYK is committed to cultivating youth-oriented training and orientation programs, empowering young individuals to actively engage in nation-building as knowledgeable citizens. VYK collaborates with partner NGOs to orchestrate state-level thematic programs aimed at disadvantaged and marginalized youth across the nation, particularly those in underserved and remote regions. With a portfolio boasting over 1100 in-house and state-level initiatives and direct engagement from over 1 lakh youth, VYK has influenced nearly 50 lakh individuals through its partner NGOs. The organization's vision encompasses spearheading youth development by guiding young people through the developmental journey, instigating self-exploration initiatives, fostering personal and social development, facilitating regional collaboration and global understanding, nurturing youth leadership, and driving forward research in youth work.

Programs

  • Samarthya Pariyojana

    The goal of this course is to address the capacity concerns of NPOs by enhancing the capacity of these grassroots civil society organizations on NGO Governance, Management, and Sustainability.

    With a focus on topics like accountability, transparency, and size of operation, this course aims to clarify the fundamental procedures that makeup NGOs' management. An analysis of NGO roles as partners, advocates, intermediates, technical assistance providers, and project implementers is beneficial.

  • Saksham: An Initiative to Engage, Enable and Empower

    The project "Saksham: An Initiative to Engage, Enable and Empower" was started by Vishwa Yuvak Kendra in partnership with BOSCH, one of the most well-known multinational engineering and technology companies in the world, with the goal of enhancing the capacity and knowledge of corporations, non-profit organizations, and academicians on the concept of CSR. The training program's goal is to talk about and come up with ideas on how corporations, academics, and NPOs may collaborate to help society progress. It is a set of five two-day training courses covering different facets of corporate social responsibility.

    With the goal of helping elderly people who are truly in need and are living in difficult circumstances, YK and BOSCH launched the CREDILA (Care for Rural Elders with Dignity Despite their Lower Aspirations) project.
