Programs
-
Healthcare Programmes
Periodic free health check-up camps are conducted in rural areas, with district health authorities consistently cooperating by supplying doctors, nurses, medications, and ambulances. It has facilitated the presence of medical professionals in programme villages, thanks to partnerships with various departments and agencies providing limited funds for health outreach initiatives. Promoting health, nutrition, and sanitation awareness is crucial. Educating communities about clean habits, nutrition for infants, pregnant women, weaning practices, and elderly care is essential for maintaining good health. Pro Rural recognizes the urgency of implementing these programmes in project areas, but resource constraints have hindered significant progress.

Livelihoods Programme
The North Eastern Region of India offers excellent soil and climate conditions for cultivating high-value organic crops like vegetables, cereals, pulses, and spices. Pro Rural actively promotes and trains agro-enterprises while enhancing the capabilities of value chain participants.
In livestock development, despite the region's high meat consumption, cattle farming is limited, and pig farming mostly follows traditional backyard practices. As a result, the region imports a significant amount of pork. Pro Rural addresses this by providing training in poultry and pig farming, facilitating access to startup loans.
Furthermore, The organisation encourages Jhum farmers to shift from labour-intensive, low-yield practices to cash crops, permanent agriculture, or livestock development for livelihood diversification. -
Environmental Programmes
Pro Rural conducts training sessions in various communities, neighbourhoods, and rural areas, teaching a straightforward kitchen waste composting method using the organic bio-digester known as "Garbage to Gold" (G2G) powder. It also offers training to institutions, including hostels, army mess facilities, housing complexes, and villages, for large-scale composting using the same technique. Pro Rural staff has collaborated with municipalities to reduce waste sent to landfill sites by 30% to 40%, with the resulting compost being endorsed as a nutrient-rich option for flower and vegetable gardens. It champions a "Zero Littering Campaign," engaging schools and colleges with the motto "Catch them young for a clean and green city/village." Pro Rural plays a leadership role in mobilizing the masses for ecological balance restoration.
