Established modestly on April 18, 1976, in the temple city, the organisation operates primarily in the Education, Art & Culture, Child & Youth Development, and Energy & Environment sectors. Satabdira Kalakar has transcended geographical boundaries, showcasing its prowess not only within the state but also in distant cities like Guwahati, Kolkata, New Delhi (N.S.D), Mumbai, Lucknow, Allahabad, Shanti Niketan, Visakhapatnam, Ahmedabad, and Bhopal. Over the years, it has nurtured artists, playwrights, and directors, providing a platform for talent that may have otherwise remained undiscovered. The organisation has presented over one hundred fifty-nine plays and has also organised seminars, workshops on Theatre and Folk Culture, Children's Drama Festivals for Twelve years, followed by the National Multilingual Drama Festival for Eighteen years consecutively. Even after 41 years, the organisation persists in advocating for enhancements in stage activities, nurturing emerging talents, and showcasing Odisha's diverse cultural heritage.
