Programs

  • Vocational Training Program

Two tailoring training centers are available in our office, through which 28 women benefited. This is AWARD's own assistance program to strengthen the programs. Other training programs include wire basket making, embroidery, ready-made garments, and tailoring. Interested rural girls and women actively participate in these programs. It has been suggested that we contact the Central Social Welfare Board in New Delhi. Following that training, about thirteen ladies made their own plans to generate money through tailoring.

  • Women's Empower through Educational Awareness

In Kurinjipadi village and Keerapalayam block (39 village panchayats), organized trainings and seminars have changed the community's perspective on women's issues and difficulties. Women need to gain greater knowledge about all parts of human activity and, most importantly, build self-confidence. Women's self-help groups (SHGs) are a means of empowering women. These are the primary topics of our motivating programs. Individual women who felt helpless were called upon to find a communal solution to any issue. Because self-help groups (SHGs) are beneficial in empowering women, AWARD has been establishing 50 SHGs in rural regions as a means of encouraging the expansion of income-generating and microcredit initiatives.

  • Awareness on solid waste management among rural population project

In Keerapalayam block (5 villages), AWARD conducted a 7-day national environmental awareness campaign (NEAC) on solid waste management for schoolchildren, local leaders, social teachers, SHG members, and community organization members with the support and guidance of the CP Ramasamy Ayer Foundation in Chennai and the Ministry of Forest and Environment, Government of India. These campaigns, competitions, resource material and poster distribution, rallies, etc., helped almost 1675 people. Compost buildings were built in schools by the AWARD & CPR Foundation to separate solid waste and raise public awareness of solid waste management.
