Don Bosco Anbu Illam Chennai is a Child Rights organization established by the Salesians of Don Bosco in 1985 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, South India. Additionally, its children's homes are registered under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. Don Bosco Anbu Illam operates three shelter homes—two for boys and one for girls—offering care and protection to 120 children. The organization also engages in outreach through 33 slum community centers, reaching approximately 4,000 children.

    District

    The mission to end female gendercide and empower women envisions a society free from social oppression.

    The Invisible Girl Project (IGP), a U.S.-based funding partner, supports our mission to protect the lives of girl children from vulnerable backgrounds. Since 2020, this project has been implemented at Don Bosco Anbu Illam, benefiting the residents of Saranalayam (a girls’ home) by enhancing their academic, health, psychological, moral, and spiritual well-being.

The organization has established street presence in key locations in Coimbatore since 1995, implemented the Integrated Child Protection Scheme in 2010, and functions as a reception unit for the Child Welfare Committee since 2008.
