  • Education Programmes

    States

    Tamil Nadu

    IAB provides education to visually impaired students through its special higher secondary school and integrated education programme enabling under and post-graduate education. It has a well-stocked audio and Braille library to help students access information easily.

    It also provides scholarships to visually challenged students who perform well in their academics. Its curriculum includes extra-curricular activities to enable all-round development of students.

  • Employment Programmes

    IAB graduates are finding fruitful employment in the BPO sector and also the Government sectors, more so, after the enactment of the Persons with Disability Act, 1995, which directs that one percent of jobs be reserved for persons with disabilities. This has enabled blind people to find employment with railways, schools and banks.

    IAB also provides vocational training for visually challenged people who want to start their own enterprises and partners with the private sector to identify opportunities and place visually impaired people in appropriate positions.

  • Residential Services Programmes

    The association takes care of accommodation and food for the students through its sixty thousand square feet, three-acre campus equipped with all facilities. The campus is home to three hundred visually challenged children who stay in comfort and learn essential academic and vocational skills. The association also provides for healthcare services to treat any medical problems of the inmates.

  • Career and Skill Training Programmes

    To enable the visually challenged students to prosper with good careers, the association imparts training in computers, BPO skills, printing and bookbinding, enabling them to take part in competitive exams and also basic engineering courses designed to assist the visually impaired non-graduate students to operate machines and earn their livelihoods.

    The association has an in-house Braille books production house to print and make available books in Braille to its students. This production house now caters to visually impaired people all over the State of Tamil Nadu.

    Its audiobooks are also helping visually challenged people to read books by hearing them. It imparts life skills to its students to help them live independently in addition to teaching them how to use phones, computers and talking books with special adaptations. It also provides legal help and entitlements to people with disabilities if so required.
