The Residents Awareness Association of Coimbatore (RAAC) is a proactive community initiative led by dedicated individuals from neighbourhoods like Bha Read morerathi Colony, Lal Bahadur Colony, Shringar Nagar, Gopal Nagar, and Surya Gardens. It focuses on creating a harmonious urban lifestyle by blending modern conveniences with natural surroundings. The organization actively champions citizen concerns, promotes healthy living, sustainable waste practices, and responsible use of resources, all while emphasizing the need for thoughtful planning to build a resilient and thriving city. With a vision to enhance the quality of life for its residents, RAAC aims to make Coimbatore a model city that balances progress with well-being. It strives to foster a peaceful and organised living environment by advocating for essential infrastructure, sustainable urban development, and inclusive community initiatives that ensure growth aligns with long-term sustainability.

Programs

  • Hirotec SWM at Keeranatham

At Keeranatham, the waste management system was struggling due to the growing floating population and IT corridor traffic, resulting in widespread litter. Hirotec, through its CSR initiative in collaboration with RAAC, launched a cleanup project on September 1, 2023. With electric vehicles, volunteer support, and community participation in waste segregation, the initiative transformed the area. Former litter zones now flourish with flowering plants, setting a benchmark for sustainable urban waste management.

  • Rural Electrification Alanthurai

In response to the lack of electricity in rural Coimbatore, RAAC initiated electrification efforts following a request from local authorities. The first phase in Pachinampathi enabled 31 households to pay the required TNEB security deposit. In Moongilmadai, 29 more homes are set to benefit through upcoming sponsorships. Also, in two tribal hamlets, 19 out of 66 houses have already received power, with funding secured to complete the remaining connections shortly.
