Since 2007, SRDPS has operated a Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA) addressing the issue of abandoned or surrendered newborns. Recognized by the Government of Tamil Nadu, it follows CARA regulations, offering comprehensive care, including nutrition and medical attention. After home studies, parents are placed on a state seniority list for online child referrals. In 2021-2022, SRDPS cared for 11 children, including those with health challenges. The SAA boasts a well-equipped facility with cradles, medical equipment, and play areas. CARA's online registration streamlines adoption procedures for parents, enhancing efficiency.

    Tirupattur

    States

    Tamil Nadu

SRDPS operates a Cradle Baby Centre, which features a secure cradle located outside the main gate, equipped with instructions in the local language and English on how to safely surrender a baby. Once the baby is placed in the cradle, it self-locks, preventing removal from the outside. A simple bell press signals immediate care and support for the baby, allowing for retrieval from inside without disturbance. This initiative aims to provide a safe and discreet option for mothers to ensure the well-being of their infants.

  • Ujjawala Programme

    District

    Tirupattur

    States

    Tamil Nadu

SRDPS administers the Ujjawala project, initiated in 2009 to rehabilitate women victims of abduction, addressing the pervasive issue of human trafficking. With over 5,00,000 reported cases of trafficking globally, and over 30,000 in India annually, the project focuses on prevention, rescue, rehabilitation, and reintegration. Measures include forming Community Vigilance Groups, conducting awareness programmes, and distributing educational materials to high-risk groups and officials. The project rescues victims, provides immediate relief, and offers rehabilitation in a well-equipped facility. Services include legal aid, medical check-ups, counselling, education, vocational training, and recreational activities. The reintegration process involves a Half-Way Home, seed money for self-employment, transport and escort services, and follow-ups. To raise awareness and prevent trafficking, sensitization workshops are conducted, involving various stakeholders and experts in the field.
