Over the span of 10 years, Thuvakkam's dedicated efforts brought together over 40,000 volunteers who collectively contributed more than 140,000 hours of volunteering, resulting in an impact that touched the lives of over 700,000 individuals. Thuvakkam NGO has made a significant impact over the past 10+ years (since 2014) in the fields of Environment, Education, and Humanity. Below is an overview of its contributions to society: Environmental Impact Tree Plantation & Urban Afforestation Planted over 2 lakh trees in Chennai, Hyderabad, and other regions. Leading initiatives like Treecember to plant and sustain urban forests. Partnered with government bodies, corporations, and individuals for green cover expansion. Lake Restoration & Water Conservation Revived multiple community lakes and ponds, improving groundwater levels. Conducted desilting, bund strengthening, and waste removal activities. Waste Management & Sustainability Initiatives Organized Zero Waste events and waste segregation drives. Promoted sustainable alternatives like cloth bags, paper pens, and reusable materials. Public Space Beautification Transformed neglected spaces through wall paintings, street art, and mural campaigns. Encouraged civic engagement in maintaining public areas.
