The department specializes in diagnosing ophthalmic conditions, including ocular surface, lid, and intraocular tumors. Additionally, our pathologists possess extensive experience in diagnosing various disorders through skin biopsy. Our primary research emphasis is on elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying ocular tumors and identifying biomarkers. Furthermore, we are dedicated to advancing our understanding of the immunological aspects of eye diseases. With numerous awards and international recognition, our departmental members have contributed to over 500 publications in the field.

The Centre for Bioinformatics is dedicated to advancing our understanding of biological processes relevant to Vision Research. Our key objectives include:
Establishing leadership in utilizing modern bioinformatics tools for investigating and treating ocular diseases, with the aim of becoming a focal point for ophthalmic researchers across India.
Developing expertise, analytical tools, and methodologies for handling vast amounts of biomedical data from genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and metabolomic studies. We leverage high-performance computational systems to discern differences between healthy and diseased states.
Offering personalized training to enhance the bioinformatics skills of ophthalmic investigators, empowering them to apply these tools effectively in their research.
Organizing workshops, training programs, and seminars to educate ophthalmic researchers and those in other biological disciplines about the diverse applications of bioinformatics in modern biology.
