In 2009, during the 32nd Chennai Book Fair, Sakya Hostel children, supported by the Visuddhaloka Welfare Association, made a significant impact. The book fair, featuring over 500 stalls from various publishers and booksellers, showcased a wide range of books encompassing Education, Science, History, and Spiritual topics. A notable highlight was the Tamil translation of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar's writings and speeches. The young visitors from Sakya hostels made the most of this opportunity, exploring nearly 300 stalls and enjoying a 10% discount on various books. Their visit to the fair, which took place on the 13th and 14th of January, provided a joyous and meaningful holiday experience as they searched, collected, read, and purchased books, leaving a positive imprint on the event.
