Amhi Amchya Arogysathi

It aims to address challenges such as childhood stunting, maternal and childhood anaemia, and malnutrition in tribal, rural, and urban poor areas. It works with the Government to improve health initiatives and fill gaps in the healthcare system. Initiatives include community-based management of acute malnutrition in selected districts of Maharashtra and strengthening public health services. In terms of sanitation, it focuses on cleanliness, reducing drudgery, addressing water contamination, and promoting good sanitation practices. Its activities involve well construction, repairs of drinking water schemes, and installation of hand pumps and taps. It supports the Swachh Bharat Mission and collaborates with experts to develop affordable and community-friendly toilet models. Its efforts contribute to sanitation, employment, and achieving open defecation-free status in villages. It has also taken up the School Water and Sanitation Project to address needs in Anganwadi and primary schools.

A development project, in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, aimed at promoting sustainable livelihood and agriculture. It is implementing various watershed structures, lift irrigation systems, and modern agricultural techniques such as System of Rice Intensification (SRI), Line Sowing, Mix Crop, Broad Bed Furrow, and Farming and Kitchen Gardens. These initiatives aim to reduce input costs and increase agricultural production. The organisation also supports livelihood opportunities related to the collection of Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFP) to promote conservation and sustainability. These efforts focus on enhancing agricultural productivity, income generation, adopting advanced technologies, and improving cropping patterns and practices. The organisation aims to form organic farmer's groups to further increase income through activities such as Ecological and Circle Kitchen Gardens and Learning Demo Plots.

The organisation prioritizes gender equality and aims to empower both men and women. It achieves this through various initiatives, such as building women's social capital and management capabilities through solidarity groups. It focuses on addressing health concerns, providing personal care advisories, and offering training in literacy, numeracy, and personality development for women. Men are actively involved in decision-making processes at the village level. The organisation provides financial and business development support to help women start and manage micro-enterprises. It creates platforms to address women's concerns in the development sector. The women involved in the organisation have successfully accessed credit and demonstrate honesty and efficiency in loan borrowing and repayment. The formation of cluster and district-level federations aims to increase women's awareness and participation in local governance. Currently, 6,133 women are organized in 574 self-help groups.

The organisation collaborates with SATHI, Pune, under the National Health Mission (NHM) Maharashtra, to work on Community-Based Monitoring and Planning as well as Nutritional Health Services. It focuses on improving healthcare availability and access, especially in rural areas, for the poor, women, and children. It engages the community and its representatives in providing feedback on public health services through community-based monitoring. It also leads process monitoring in UMED-Maharashtra State Rural Livelihood Mission, which aims to eradicate rural poverty and support self-help groups (SHGs) and higher-level federations. Its efforts involve decentralized health planning, activation of Government health services through various committees, and promotion of community-based organisations.

It develops programmes specifically designed for rural communities to generate income and optimize resource utilization. These programmes include creating awareness among communities about the ecological importance of their surroundings. The organisation has trained approximately 200 women from self-help groups (SHGs) in the collection and marketing of herbal medicine. It has also empowered Gram Sabhas (village councils) to obtain Community Forest Rights under the PESA Act, promoting livelihoods, self-reliance, and self-governance. The organisation also inspires and supports unemployed youth with disabilities by enhancing their skills and facilitating placements in relevant sectors. The Rural Programmes Group aims to contribute to the knowledge and practice of sustainable development in ecologically sensitive and economically disadvantaged areas by promoting equitable and sustainable livelihood strategies.

It started community-based rehabilitation in Kurkheda and Korchi block, Gadchiroli District for persons with disabilities. It aims to mobilize PwDs through the formation of SHGs and federations. Under this effort, 1147 PwDs have been registered in 62 Self-Help Groups.
