Hearing habilitation includes the use of hearing aids, cochlear implants, amplified telephones, personal frequency modulation, FM systems, infrared systems and listening strategies. Visually impaired children are trained with the help of special educators, speech therapists, occupational therapists,functional assessment and sensory stimulation rooms. Other activities focus on child care, child support and women empowerment. Child care and support activities aim to provide educational support to destitute children and educational programmes are targeted at different age groups and levels with pre-school education for children aged 3-6 years, non formal education for 6-14 year old non-school going children, remedial education for 6-14 year old school going children and bridge courses for 14-18 year school drop-outs. Women empowerment initiatives aim to provide skill training to girls and women to promote self-sufficiency and independence. Apart from the primary activities, basic health care for children is ensured through regular health check ups and follow ups. They also work with the Government to assist minority communities in implementing various health care and education schemes.
