Mann Deshi Foundation nurtures and supports micro-entrepreneurs and provides customized financial products for rural women. It focuses on water conser Read morevation to support small and marginal farmers besides operating a toll-free helpline to provide advisory services to women entrepreneurs. It also provides bicycles for girls to encourage them to attend school.

Impact

It has impacted rural women micro-entrepreneurs as follows: 1. 1st pension fund in partnership with the Unit Trust of India, 2. 1st Cash Credit product for rural women in weekly markets, 3. 25% increase in average annual incomes of our business school trainees, 4. 400,000 women participated in empowerment programs, 5. 55% of women felt financially empowered after the training, 6. 90,000 accounts with the Mann Deshi Sahakari Bank. In the community, it has supported and benefited as follows: 1. 50,000 people were provided access to clean water, 2. Double increase in farmers’ incomes, 3. Developed new businesses such as animal husbandry and fisheries, 4. 900 farmers came together to promote market programs, 5. 9,000 girls benefited through the bicycle program to ensure access to schools, 6. 7,000 athletes in the champions program.

  • Help during Covid

    District

    Supported poor rural families in Satara for covid treatment. Collected funds to help 1000+ families for covid treatment, 324 beds in covid hospitals for 2500+ people. Provided protective gear to10,000+ frontline workers. Provided food supplies to 20000+ families and meals to 24,000+ migrant workers.

  • Digital Literacy Programme

    Introduces women to digital banking, ATMs and cashless apps to give them a stronger financial identity.

    Brings together small and marginal farmers and facilitates direct market access. Creates warehouse and cold storage facilities for their produce.

    Mann Deshi is dedicated to the financial inclusion and economic empowerment of rural women in India. Our integrated approach focuses on building an ecosystem for rural women to enter and flourish in business. Mann Deshi is working to make women confident and empowered to make their own choices and to be celebrated as equal and valuable members of their families & communities. Our mission is to empower women with the knowledge, skills, courage, access and capital to become successful entrepreneurs with more control over their lives. Our objective is to transform one million women into successful entrepreneurs by 2024 through its training programs conducted under the Mann Deshi Business School, Mann Deshi Mobile Business School, and the Chamber of Commerce program. The Mann Deshi Foundation currently serves in 3 states namely Maharashtra, Karnataka and the union territory of Daman and Diu. Currently, we operate through 16 locations consisting of 14 Business Schools, 12 Mobile Business Schools, and 13 Chambers of Commerce centres. Till March 2022, we have reached 7,91,131 beneficiaries through our women empowerment program and plan to reach and support one million women by 2024.

Theory of Change

For Mann Deshi, we promote women's entrepreneurship because our vision is for women to have more control over their lives and to value themselves and feel valued by others. We encourage women to become entrepreneurs, connect them to a large collective with networks and resources, support them become role models that inspire other women to follow their example, and help to become leaders in their communities.

Milestones & Track Record

Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) :
Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) is a marketing platform established by the Department for Promotion of Inustry and Internal Trade of Government of India to develop open e-commerce. The beneficiaries of Mann Deshi Foundation will be registered on this platform. The women will be able to advertise their business products and thus will be able to widen their customer reach.
WhatsApp Chatbot :
The Mann Deshi Foundation has introduced WhatsApp Chatbot to the beneficiaries. The chatbot is in Marathi aimed to provide millions of women across rural Maharashtra access to its digital and financial tools. It is allowing women to freely access Mann Deshi’s modules on financial literacy, digital literacy, and Deshi MBA at their fingertips.
State Bank of India (SBI) :
We will be signing MoU with the State Bank of India for providing loans to our beneficiaries for their business. Many a times women find it challenging to arrange business capital.
Mann Deshi tied up with Punyashloka Ahilyadevi Maharashtra Mendhi Va Sheli Vikas Mahamandal to scale goat farming and artificial insemination program all over Maharashtra.

Mobile App for BS, COC, and Goat Program.
With the support of Accenture, we are in the process of designing a mobile app for our programs. While the mobile of the Business School is already operational, the work on the mobile app for the Chamber of Commerce is underway and is likely to get done soon.

Godrej Consumers Pvt. Ltd. :
With the support of expert partner like Godrej, Mann Deshi launched the Beautypreneur Project in August. Women are being trained as beautypreneurs. The training is helping them sharpen their beauty service skills. The aim of the project is to make them improve their work and service, and thereby increase their customers.

TISSAR India :
We have tied up with TISSAR India which is providing training to our master trainers and women in fashion designing.

Zilla Udyog Kendra (District Industries Center) :
We have a tie-up with the District Industries Center (Zilla Udyog Kendra) wherein we facilitate the women entrepreneurs procure the Udyam Aadhar license for their business. We are also working with them on linking women with banking services (access to finance).

Bhartiya Yuva Shakti Trust (BYST) :
In collaboration with Bhartiya Yuva Shakti Trust (BYST) the Mann Deshi Foundation through its Satara, Kolhapur and Pune branches will provide support in getting loans for their business under government schemes. The beneficiaries are guided and helped in terms of documentation. BYST provides end-to-end mentorship to women for availing loans for their business as well which machineries they should use for their business for better production.

Playing role as a resource organization :
We have a partnership with CII, Swadesh Foundation, Genpact United Way wherein our trainers provided training to the master trainers in our Financial and Digital Literacy Program, Deshi MBA program & training on revolving grant program.
-This would widen the reach of Mann Deshi’s Program.

Credit Rating Tool:
We have designed a credit rating tool to access the eligibility of loans for our women. -The credit rating tool developed by Mann Deshi has been adopted by SBI & other banks in the loan application form.

Digitization of course material :
We have digitized our financial literacy, Deshi MBA and entrepreneurship modules with the partnership of Srishti Institute of the Art Design and Technology, Bangalore. -This would make the course material more accessible, convenient, and comprehensible for the beneficiaries.

Digital Borrowing System :
Mann Deshi benefits communities through social interventions and financial linkages. Therefore, to enable the easy access to finance Mann Deshi has developed Digital Borrowing System.
-Since 2021, the Mann Deshi Foundation is utilizing the digital borrowing system to ensure smooth and efficient financial support to aspiring women entrepreneurs.
- -So far, we have supported more than 9000 entrepreneurs through our Revolving Grant initiative. Digital borrowing System has portfolio of more than 5 CR.
-The Digital Borrowing System is -Easy to use; Collects all the relevant information at one place; Tracks application process and ensures timely disbursements of finance.

8th March, 2022, Chetna Sinha was awarded the Kamala Power Women Awards by the Shri. Bhagat Singh Koshyari (Governor of Maharashtra)
o In 2019, Chetna Sinha was awarded the Nari Shakti Puraskar by the President of India, India’s highest civilian award for achievements and contributions of individual women for women’s empowerment
o On 20th February 2019 on Mrs Chetna Sinha was honored “ The Maharashtrian of the Year Award” by the Lokmat category Social work.
o In January 2018, Chetna Sinha served as a Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum in Davos. I am delighted to inform you that Mann Deshi Foundation is certified as Equivalency Determination. Mann Deshi had applied for the due diligence to NGO source as an autonomous agency which does the due diligence of Charities and Non-Profits and we are certified. This diligence was done in the reference of Mckinsey Scott award through silicon valley foundation.
