To address the scarcity of dental professionals in rural areas and combat widespread oral health issues, the Pravara medical trust established the Rural Dental College and Hospital in 1989, enrolling 100 B.D.S. students annually. The college encompasses specialized dental preclinical and clinical departments mandated by the Dental Council of India (DCI).
The institution offers well-equipped Dental Laboratory facilities for both undergraduate and postgraduate training, alongside facilitating research initiatives. Additionally, the college extends outpatient department (OPD) services to neighbouring villages, allowing students and interns supervised by senior staff to gain practical experience.

The Department of Physiotherapy originated in 1976 at Dr. Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil Pravara Rural Hospital, aiming to address the preventive, curative, therapeutic, and rehabilitation needs of rural residents. Subsequently, the establishment of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam College of Physiotherapy, formerly known as the "College of Physiotherapy," occurred in 1997 to fulfill the necessity for comprehensive physiotherapy training.
The College holds recognition from esteemed bodies like the “Indian Association of Physiotherapists (IAP),” “Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI),” and the “Maharashtra State Council for Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy.”
The institution's vision is to emerge as an exceptional Physiotherapy College, extending urban facilities to rural communities, in line with the visionary perspective of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

Social Medicine encompasses diverse dimensions and disciplines impacting human health, making it a multi-disciplinary and multi-dimensional field. Recognizing the limitations of Preventive and Social Medicine (PSM), Community Dentistry, Community Nursing, and Community Physiotherapy in holistically addressing societal needs was the driving force behind establishing the separate School of Public Health and Social Medicine (SPHSM).

Objectives:
• Analyse health issues among rural and vulnerable community segments to devise viable solutions within the prevailing social framework.
• Identify structural limitations hindering health interventions in communities.
• Educate and foster students' expertise in social medicine, rural health, and allied health sciences.
• Initiate and encourage research and academic excellence in social medicine and related sciences.
• Deliver inclusive primary healthcare tailored to community needs.
