The organisation, through its crowdsourcing platform, collects personal stories of abuse and harassment to analyse the data and establish hotspots on a map indicating trends at a local level. The aim is to make this data useful for individuals, local communities and local administration to identify factors that cause violent behaviour and work on strategies towards solutions. It also works towards building community leadership in addressing the issues through campaigns and encourages communities to take ownership to further influence social and systemic change. Since 2012, the organisation has collected over 10000 stories from over 50 cities in India, Kenya, Cameroon and Nepal.

Red Dot Foundation aims to make cities safer by encouraging equal access to public and private spaces for everyone, especially women, through the use of crowdsourced data, community engagement, and institutional accountability.

Red Dot Foundation has expanded its reach to over 50 cities in multiple countries, including India, Kenya, Cameroon, Nepal, Nigeria, and Trinidad & Tobago, and has received recognition such as the Collective Action Award at the 23rd Annual Global Leadership Awards.
