  • Nutritional Support for TB Patients in Mahaarshtra Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh

    Introduction
    Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major public health challenge, particularly among vulnerable populations in rural and urban areas of Nagpur. Malnutrition is both a cause and a consequence of TB, weakening the immune system and making individuals more susceptible to infection. Proper nutrition is critical for TB patients, as it helps in faster recovery, reduces complications, and improves overall treatment outcomes.

    Recognizing this critical need, Sahyadri Foundation aims to distribute 1,500 nutrition kits to TB patients in Nagpur district over a period of two years. This initiative will ensure that nutritionally vulnerable TB patients receive essential dietary support, improving their chances of recovery and reducing the socioeconomic burden of the disease.

However, many underprivileged students in Nagpur lack access to computers at home, making it difficult for them to practice, learn, and excel in computer-based subjects. This digital divide affects their academic performance and career prospects.

    To bridge this gap, we propose the Mobile Vocational Education (MoVE) Project—a mobile computer training center designed to provide free computer education, training, and hands-on practice to underprivileged students. The initiative will deploy a classroom-on-wheels, equipped with modern computers, a large screen, and internet connectivity, reaching students in underserved communities directly.

    Access to quality education remains a significant challenge in rural India. Based on field visits to various schools, key observations highlight poor teacher capacity, lack of science laboratories, inadequate infrastructure, and absence of proper teacher training programs. These gaps hinder students' educational progress, particularly in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects, and affect their overall learning outcomes.

    To address these challenges, we propose "The Saksharata Project", an initiative focused on strengthening rural schools by enhancing teacher capacity, improving infrastructure, and providing access to quality learning resources.

    Introduction
    The Pre-School & Anganwadi Centre in MIHAN, Nagpur, is a community-driven initiative by Sahyadri Foundation since 2015. The program ensures early childhood education, nutrition, and holistic development for children from underserved communities. The two centers accommodate 30 and 60 students, operating with technical assistance from Mumbai Mobile Creche, Mumbai.

    FIRTE PATHAK: AN INITIATIVE BY MAHARASHTRA STATE GOVERNMENT

    “A step towards securing bright future of destitute and homeless children”

    Sahyadri foundation strives to work as a catalyst in bringing sustainable change in lives of underprivileged children, hence keeping its mission in view to empower underprivileged children and youth by the means of providing education, career counselling and proper guidance, the foundation has geared up to work as a part of FIRTE PATHAK.

    The aim of this scheme is to escort destitute and homeless children into the mainstream of the society by the means of providing education.

    The “Firte Pathak” initiative is launched by the state governments women and child development department in six districts of Maharashtra- Nagpur, Nashik, Pune, Thane and Mumbai.

    Under this scheme, a child-friendly bus or van will be made available in the six districts with a capacity of 25 children. These buses will be equipped with CCTV cameras and surveillance
