Programs
-
Family Planning Programme
HLFPPT, views family planning as an empowerment tool for couples, reducing unwanted pregnancies, unsafe abortions, and maternal-child health risks. Aligned with the global consensus on universal reproductive healthcare, it contributes comprehensively to the National Family Planning Programme. It enhances community awareness, provides counselling, expands contraceptive options, and empowers healthcare providers to deliver effective family planning services.
-
Maternal & Child Healthcare Programme
HLFPPT is addressing critical issues in maternal and child healthcare. With over 1.3 million child deaths and 45,000 maternal deaths annually in India, many of these casualties are preventable through timely interventions. India is striving to achieve Sustainable Development Goals by reducing maternal and child mortality rates. HLFPPT is actively involved in enhancing maternal and child healthcare by promoting pregnancy and newborn care awareness, ensuring antenatal and postnatal services, advocating for institutional deliveries, emphasizing exclusive breastfeeding, facilitating immunization, and managing childhood diarrhoea effectively.
-
Adolescent Healthcare
The organisation recognizes the critical importance of the transition from childhood to adulthood, a phase that can significantly shape an individual's future. Unfortunately, societal taboos often hinder vulnerable young minds from accessing accurate information and guidance. Consequently, they may succumb to detrimental behaviours like substance abuse, risky sexual practices, and psychological issues like depression and anxiety. Realizing this, HLFPPT emphasizes Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH) as a key aspect. It firmly believes that equipping young individuals with life skills is essential to guide them towards informed decision-making. Aligned with guidelines from UNICEF, UNESCO, and WHO, HLFPPT focuses on imparting Reflective Skills, Social Skills, Communication Skills, and Livelihood Skills – crucial components of Core Life Skill Strategies and Techniques – to empower and protect the youth from risky behaviours.

HLFPPT is deeply involved in addressing HIV Prevention & Control in India, a country ranking 3rd globally in HIV prevalence. Unprotected sex and low condom usage are responsible for about 90% of new infections. HLFPPT advocates for early diagnosis, timely treatment, and healthy lifestyle adoption for people living with HIV (PLHIV) to manage the virus and delay its progression to AIDS. Over the past 25 years, HLFPPT has tirelessly worked to contain HIV transmission and enhance the lives of PLHIV through diverse programmes, awareness campaigns, advocacy initiatives, and behaviour change communication. Collaborating with Governmental bodies, NGOs, international agencies, and local communities, HLFPPT aligns with the National AIDS Control Programme Phase IV (2012-17) objectives, which aim to reduce new infections by 50% and provide comprehensive care, support, and treatment to all PLHA.

Skill Development Programme
DistrictHLFPPT is addressing the global healthcare workforce shortage through its Skill Development Programme. With a critical lack of skilled health workers in India, threatening Universal Health Coverage, the initiative aligns with the Skill India Mission. It focuses on training and providing livelihood opportunities to youth, employing presentations, posters, and community engagement to attract students. Training, lasting from 3 months to 1 year, includes on-the-job components and ends with assessments by Sector Skill Councils. Successful graduates are then assisted in finding placements within public and private healthcare facilities.
