District
Agra
States
Uttar Pradesh
The Challenge
In India’s urban slums and rural belts, women’s health has long been neglected—not due to lack of medicine, but due to silence, stigma, and systemic exclusion. Severe anaemia, maternal deaths, early pregnancies
Lack of postnatal care and reproductive awareness
Social taboos around menstruation and contraceptionLaunched in 2019, Women Connect reimagined public health
from the inside out—by transforming local women into Community Health Champions. Instead of waiting for change to arrive, we empowered women to lead it.
What We Did"
Identified and trained 70+ grassroots women from Dalit, Muslim & underserved communities Delivered modules on menstrual & reproductive health, maternal care, nutrition, mental health, and government entitlements
Equipped them with toolkits, stipends, and platforms for leadership
These Champions became the trusted first responders and educators across homes, Anganwadis, rooftops, and community spaces.
