    2005

Indian Dreams Foundation (IDF) was founded in 2005 in Agra, Uttar Pradesh with a vision for an empowered society where every citizen irrespective of c Read morelass, creed, gender, social standing, location and religion has an equal chance of leading a happy secure and meaningful life with access to quality education, healthcare and vocational skills. IDF primarily works in the areas of Education, Health & Hygiene, Women’s empowerment, Vocational training, Sexual Reproductive Health Rights and WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene). IDF strongly believes in the power of education as a tool of empowerment and uses it to break taboos and stereotypes. This belief shapes all our programs and the work we do. Our flagship programs involve working with children in underprivileged communities with a view to enroll them in formal, informal or vocational education. These programs are supplemented by counselling sessions for families to highlight the importance of educating their children. Thus IDF adopts a grass-roots level approach where it takes into consideration both the children and the family, and endeavours to turn them towards education.

Vision & Mission

Every girl will have access to technical and vocational training for developing relevant skills for employment, jobs and entrepreneurship. Every girl will have access to health care, equal representation and participation in economic decision making in families and societies. There is no discrimination and inequalities against women and girls We resonate and work to realize the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal4 “Quality education for all” and thereby attain Sustainable Development Goal5 “Achieve gender equality”, “Empower all women and girls”, and “End all forms of discrimination against all women and girls.”

Programs

  • Honhar Ladki Program - Girls Education Sponsoring And Mentoring

The programme sponsors female students, enrolling them into formal schools and paying educational expenses. The programme additionally advocates for girls’ right to education by ensuring parental commitment. This, along with the provision of mentors who help the girls develop self-confidence and achieve independence, reduces drop-out rates. The IDF identifies and empowers Girls’ Champions from the body of sponsored students. These champions can work with poor communities to create further transformational change in their local areas. This can lead to a raising awareness of women’s sexual and reproductive rights, as well as a more general understanding of economic and social equality between genders.
