It was the passionate appeal of a child in the year 1991, wanting to go to school that prompted the founder of this project Mamoon Akhtar to start tea Read moreching 5-6 children in his own house in the Tikiapara slum. As the residents of the area became aware of this “school”, more and more children started coming and there was no place to seat them. Mission is to provide developmental opportunities to the poor and needy slum children with emphasis on young girls. Also; provide them with quality education and to impart life skill education, so as to explore and develop their hidden talents and capacities. To train them for secured livelihood so as to lead productive and fruitful life with self-esteem and self-dignity and to rise above the narrow consideration of caste creed, community religion or language and to build a strong nation.

SHM provides education, healthcare, and vocational training to underprivileged children and women in the Tikiapara and Bankra slums.

Impact

SHM has educated over 6,000 students, employed over 300 teachers, provided vocational training to more than 500 women, and attends to the daily healthcare needs of more than 400 patients through a mobile health van.

Their mission is to provide developmental opportunities to poor and needy slum children, with emphasis on young girls, by providing quality education and life skill training.

    Our goal is to equip underprivileged individuals in our society with the skills necessary for specific professions, vocations, or trades. Through our collaboration with NCVRT, we provide vocational courses designed to directly address their needs. Our offerings include:

Milestones & Track Record

Since 2001, SHM has grown from teaching 5-6 children in the founder's house to operating multiple schools and programs serving thousands of beneficiaries in the Tikiapara and Bankra communities.
