Since
1984
Peaceful Society (PS) was founded in 1983, with the vision of realizing Gandhi's dream of a peaceful society. It draws inspiration from the Total Revo Read morelution movement of J.P. Narayan and the personal histories of its founders, Kumar Kalanand Mani and Bharati Bandodkar. Kumar Kalanand Mani's involvement in social movements, including Sarvodaya and the JP movement, led him to establish PS in Goa, aiming to implement Gandhi's principles of mutual understanding and cooperation. The organization focuses on rural development, agriculture, and empowering communities to address issues like poverty, inequality, and injustice. Established with the support of like-minded youth and older citizens, PS works towards improving living conditions in rural areas and promoting sustainable agriculture and allied industries. Its strategy involves raising awareness about rights and duties, with the goal of eliminating poverty, exploitation, illiteracy, and ecological imbalances. Formalized in March 1983, PS was founded by Late Mr. Madhav Bir and led by Kumar Kalanand Mani as the founder Secretary, with Bharati Bandodkar overseeing the Women Cell.
