To boost agricultural output, DSC works with farmers to promote best practices in crop production, soil health management, and water conservation. It also provides training and support to farmers' groups. It has helped farmers to adopt best practices in crop production, which has resulted in an increase in crop yields of up to 20%. It has also helped to improve soil health by promoting the use of vermicompost and other organic fertilizers, which has led to a reduction in the use of chemical fertilizers. This has saved farmers money and improved the quality of their produce.

Joint Forest Management (JFM) is a community-based forest management programme that involves local communities in the management of forest resources to improve the livelihoods of forest-dependent people and conserve forest ecosystems. It has been implemented in over 100,000 villages in India and has had a significant impact on the lives of forest-dependent people. It has helped to increase forest cover, improve soil and water conservation, and reduce the incidence of forest fires. JFM has also helped to improve the livelihoods of forest-dependent people by providing them with employment opportunities in the forest sector and by increasing the availability of forest products. The success of JFM has been attributed to the active participation of local communities, the provision of financial and technical assistance by the Government, and the support of non-governmental organisations.
