Programs

  • Climate Change Programme

Climate change refers to long-term shifts in temperature and weather patterns, with human activities being the main driver since the 1800s. Burning fossil fuels like coal, oil, and gas releases greenhouse gas emissions, acting as a thermal blanket, trapping heat, and raising global temperatures. Activities such as driving cars, heating buildings, clearing land, and landfills contribute to emissions, making energy, industry, transport, buildings, agriculture, and land use significant contributors to the climate change issue.

  • Forestation Programme

In the face of global climate challenges, Forestation takes a proactive stance by promoting tree planting and management as a successful strategy. Its main goals encompass bolstering sustainable farming to combat erosion, fostering new income streams for farmers, and empowering communities to propagate plantation practices. By focusing on activities like enhancing groundwater levels, preserving soil integrity, and elevating oxygen levels, Forestation effectively addresses climate-induced vulnerabilities while benefiting local ecosystems.

  • Traditional Sustainable Agriculture Programme

Under this head, Bhoomi Collective dedicates its efforts to promoting and preserving traditional and regenerative farming practices, particularly focusing on indigenous grain varieties such as rice and millet. In the face of hybrid farming's rise, the Collective aims to counter the competition by advocating for the advantages of traditional organic production. Its primary objectives revolve around safeguarding and promoting organic seeds for agricultural crops, uplifting minor and marginal farmers through sustainable livelihoods, and enhancing the productivity of traditional agricultural land to combat hunger and poverty. Additionally, the Collective places emphasis on maximizing tree planting, facilitating access to forest resources and establishing a self-sustaining institutional framework to add value to their produce and ensure equitable returns.

CHILDLINE 1098 serves as a beacon of hope for countless children throughout India. Functioning as a toll-free, round-the-clock emergency phone service, it extends aid and assistance to children in distress, operating every day of the year. The organisation's commitment goes beyond immediate response, as it endeavours to establish vital connections between children in need and appropriate services that cater to their ongoing care and rehabilitation. Notably, CHILDLINE 1098 has impacted the lives of three million children nationwide, providing them with essential care and protective support.

One of the key contributors to the CHILDLINE 1098 initiative is Vikalp, which operates as the central agency under the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development. Vikalp is instrumental in the establishment, management, and oversight of the CHILDLINE 1098 service in the Block Nizer area of Tapi District in the state of Gujarat.

  • Stand for Land Programme

Stand for Land is a land awareness campaign that aims to improve agricultural land health for sustainable crop production. It recognizes land as vital for rural and indigenous livelihoods, advocating its safeguarding against threats like industrialization, pollution, deforestation, and soil erosion. The campaign addresses these issues by fostering climate change awareness, promoting organic farming, encouraging tree planting, preserving biodiversity, and supporting women farmers. Through its comprehensive approach, Stand for Land strives to ensure sustainable practices and protect land resources for the benefit of communities and the environment.
