SUPPORT(Society for Upliftment of People with People’s Organisation and Rural Technology) focuses on programmes to uplift the lives of the less privil Read moreeged people and make them self-reliant with the active involvement of the community in remote rural areas. Encourages them to manage their own economic, social and educational affairs in an ethical and sustainable manner to benefit the entire area and community. It takes initiatives like Institution Building, Natural Resource Management, Bio-diversity Conservation, Health, Sanitation, Hygiene, Financial Inclusion, Micro Enterprise Development, Farmers Producers Organizations & cooperative development. On-going programmes include the TDF Wadi project, PIP mission 2020-25, Holistic rural development programme, Support to the Nandlal public school and enabling safe spaces, income and covid protection to women farmers in Jharkhand.
Issue
Poor and agricultural communities are not prosperous, lack self-confidence and are dependent socially and economically due to being involved in unsustainable occupations.
Action
SUPPORT enables poor farmers to become self-reliant, confident, aware and invest time in sustainable activities through multiple welfare programmes aimed to socially and economically uplift the poor farming communities.

Institution Building Programmes
StateSHGs - Self Help Group Programme: An informal association of 10 to 20 women who volunteer to work together as a group.
Water user Groups: Manages water resource bodies and provides continuous maintenance of irrigation structures like lift irrigation systems, dams, ponds and diversion-based irrigation systems.
Village Organization: Comprises 10-15 neighbour SHGs within the village with a representative from all its members SHGs to strengthen weak SHGs or to resolve conflicts among SHGs.
Farmer’s Club Programme: Ensures development in the rural areas through credit, technology transfer, awareness and capacity-building.
Producers Organization: It is an organisation run by farmers to ensure collective marketing of agricultural produce and higher price for their yield. -
Health Programmes
StateSafe Drinking Water and Sanitation: Works to form Block Co-coordinators and Cluster Co-coordinators for better management. It has worked in 355 revenue villages and formed 355 VWSCs (Village Water and Sanitation Committee).
HIV/AIDS Control: It is run in the Bokaro District of Jharkhand to reduce the risk of HIV/ AIDS for truckers and the most vulnerable to contacting HIV/ AIDS. -
Natural Resource Management Programmes
StateSustainable Agriculture: Works to enhance the productivity of field crops, diversify into less water-intensive crops to reduce risk and promotes the cultivation of vegetables for cash income.
Land and Water Resource Development: Teaches the community to save their water resources and improve their living conditions through the integration of a watershed approach. -
Biodiversity Conservation Programmes
StateHorticulture Development: WADI program is implemented in ten villages in Churchu block of Hazaribag. It has covered 500 tribal families in 500 acres of land in the project period. Further, it has planted a total of 32988 mango, 8500 guava and 49661 border plants in the project villages.

Financial Inclusion Programmes
StateBanks provide credit facilities and have linked existing SHGs with several branches of banks like Bank of India, State Bank of India, Jharkhand Grameen Bank, United Bank of India and IDBI.

Farmers Producers Organizations (FPO) & Cooperative Development Programmes
StateHelps and strengthens small and marginal farmers in Ramgarh, Hazaribag, and Bokaro districts by promoting FPOs. Provides security as a collective team against the various problems faced by the farmers due to monsoon, high input cost of agriculture goods, less market price of agricultural commodities, lack of timely credit support, lack of skill, quality control, constraints in access to the technologies, storage and lack of collaborations etc.

E-Shakti Programme
StateThis programme enables ‘one-click’ availability of the social and financial information of the Self Help Groups maintaining saving bank accounts with the banks in addition to capturing all types of financial transactions like saving and internal loan disbursement/payment.
SMS alerts are sent to members on their savings and loan outstanding. Provides a monthly financial statement in Hindi/English to all digitised SHGs.

Sanitation and Hygiene Programmes
StateProvides clean toilets, hand-wash units, establishes water filters and arranges running water supply in all Government schools. Emphasizes behaviour change practices among children through several activities like Safai Abhiyan, School WASH Programme.

Menstrual Health Management (MHM) Programme
StateWorks to empower women through the “Chuppi Todo; Swasthya Raho” initiative for women during their menstruating period to come forward to share their problems with courage and have a better understanding of this natural occurrence.

Micro Enterprise Development Programmes
StatePromotes allied activities to ensure livelihood for landless and marginal farmers. These options supplement agricultural income and protect the family from financial crunch during crop failure. Major activities under micro-enterprise development are mushroom & vermicompost production, tailoring and Lac cultivation.
Livestock Development: Promotes allied activity among the farmers like goat and pig rearing, fishery, poultry and duckery among the tribal populations to enhance the scale and to have bigger profit for them.
Non-Timber Forest Produces: Generates an added source of income in rural areas like plantation of Lac host plants like Bair, Palash, Kusum and Rangini. Provides technical support to 105 farmers in the form of providing improving techniques of lac cultivation, brood lac, medicines, sprayer machine and after production the market linkage for ensuring good price for the farmers.
