Gandhibhavan International Trust is a registered, charitable, non-profitable organization. The Trust is self-governing body of 7 members headed by Dr. Read morePunalur Somarajan as Managing Trustee and Secretary. The Trust started its activities in the year 2005. Within a short span of 15 years the organization could achieve name and fame among non-governmental organizations in Kerala as well as in India. The Trust is actively engaged in charitable and socio-cultural service activities. Many philanthropists, social workers and kind-hearted people contributed physically, financially and with prayer for the overall development of the organization. Since the activities of the Trust are unique in all fields, it is being noticed by the Government and leaders in Society right from its inception. The organization is having ISO 9001-2015 certificate and the name is included in India Book of Records and Asia Book of Records for the unique activities. The name of Gandhibhavan and secretary Dr.Punalur Somarajan is included in India Book of Records for the most number of Awards and Honours received. Gandhibhavan is awarded by Hon’ble President of India Sri.Ram Nath Kovind the national award `Vayoshreshta Samman 2019’ of Central Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment for providing best services to senior citizens. The Trust stands for the protection, welfare and uplift of poor, downtrodden, neglected and marginalized cross section of people in the society by providing food, shelter, educational and medical needs. Now there are more than 1200 inmates of all ages starting from 6 months to 104 years. Most of them are aged and suffering from various ailments and weakness due to old age. Physically handicapped, mentally challenged and mentally deranged, blind, deaf, dumb, orphan children and destitute mothers are residing in Gandhibhavan as in a big joint family. Gandhibhavan has been approved by the State Government for running orphanages for children, care homes for aged persons, rehabilitation centre for mentally and physically disabled, special school and rehabilitation center for mentally retarded, Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre and Rehabilitation Centre for the mentally ill. It also has the National Trust registration for protection of persons with multiple disabilities. Social Welfare Department of Government of Kerala recognized the Trust for De-Addiction Activities and treatment. The Trust is working for the last 15 years and has got IT Registrations 12A, 80G and is having FCRA and 35AC Approvals. KELSA legal aid Clinic under Kerala Legal Services Authority, Service Providing Centre as per Domestic Violence Act and Women’s Commission A Grade Unit are functioning in the premises. Kollam District Shelter Home running under Kerala State Social Welfare Board is in Gandhibhavan. Vision of the Trust: Gandhibhavan International Trust has the following lofty ideals as its vision: 1. Uplift of the downtrodden, poor and marginalized people of the society is the prime and foremost aim. 2. Assist in the overall development of the country through the above task and thus create a new order of life in the society in tune with the proclaimed philosophy of Mahatma Gandhiji. Mission of the Trust: 1. To bring the down-trodden cross section of the society to the main stream of life. 2. To help build a prosperous and powerful nation with the resources easily available in the country to make India No.1 in all sectors. 3. To lend a helping hand to the needy and abandoned members of Society in taking care of them by fulfilling their needs and giving them a comfortable living.

Daycare Centre
It runs a children's home to offer a secure environment for underprivileged kids of all ages, from kindergarteners to college-goers. The home provides comfortable accommodation, nutritious meals, medical care, and recreational facilities, along with education, art, sports, cultural, and music training. The mission is to create a loving and safe space for children who lack familial care.

PROBATION HOME
This is a joint venture of Kerala Govt. Social Justice Department and Gandhibhavan. The Centre started in 2020 in a building attached to Mercy Hospital, Valakam, Kottarakkara, Kollam. The project envisages to give temporary Shelter for Jail Released Prisoners who is not having any body to accept and care. They have been given Vocational training in different skills and Agricultural practice so that they could live independently with their own earnings. This is the first such project in Kerala

COVID-19 Related Activities
Gandhibhavan has handed over a building to Government of Kerala Health Department for Covid 19 First Line Treatment Centre. This treatment centre is providing treatment to around 100 patients.
Gandhibhavan has provided Food, Mask, PPE kit, Wheel Chairs, Coat, Bed etc to above 1000 persons who were facing difficulties to find out daily needs during Covid 19 directly to CFLTs and through other Agencies and KSRTC. Mental support to Covid-19 affected patients were given though tele-counselling.
We have a plan to start a treatment centre and vaccination centre for helping both state and central government and is about to start a skill development centre for women and youth who are under poverty due to Covid 19 so that they could achieve regular income. -
Care home for abandoned men and women from home
Gandhibhavan is having registration with Orphanage Control Board
for the Orphanage for Aged Men and Women. Separate living space and buildings for men and women are arranged. Many are picked up from streets and public places by Police, Public representatives, social activists etc and directed to Gandhibhavan. The home is providing care and support, medical treatment, food, medicine, cloth, yoga, meditation, vocational trainings and therapies including music therapy to more than 1200 members. -
Childrens home for girls
Gandhibhavan has a children’s home that is dedicated to provide a safe home for socially and financially deprived children and for care and protection of children in conflict with law. This home is for children of all ages upto 18 years, from kindergarteners to college going children,. The home provides a host of facilities that include comfortable accommodation, nutritious food, proper and appropriate medical treatment, skill development training, physiotherapy and recreation facilities. They are also given general education, art, sports, culture, music training. The purpose and vision of the home is to ensure a safe and loving environment for these children who have been unfortunate not to have received the love and affection of their families and loved ones. The home depends on the generous and loving contributions of kind donors from India and all over the world for its day to day working and survival.

Special School for mentally challenged children
Gandhibhavan provides schooling to the needs of over 220 Children with our special school that caters to the special needs of the children with Cerebral Palsy, Autism and other types of Mental and Physical disabilities. The school serves as a learning and developmental resource for Gandhibhavan inmate children and children coming from poor and impoverished families living within 40 KMs radius of Gandhibhavan. In the special school the children are provided with a range of developmental skills that help them to meet their daily needs and lead better and dignified lives. They are also provided infrastructure like Smart Classrooms, Physiotherapy rooms and are trained in extracurricular activities like Arts and Sports along with vocational training like handicraft making. The students are taken on educational tours to places of importance in the school bus that is specially designed to cater to their special needs.

HOME FOR BEDRIDDEN SENIOR CITIZEN (PAIN & PALLIATIVE HOME)
Bedridden patients are given maximum care with compassion and love so that they will get a peaceful demise at the end. Terminally Ill patients having Cancer, HIV etc are treated here with maximum care and love. Almost 200 terminally ill patients are treated and cared here

SHELTER HOME FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VICTIMS
Govt. of Kerala has started Kollam District Women’s Shelter Home in Gandhibhavan in the year 2015 in accordance with the Protection of women from Domestic Violence Act -2005. This is the first Shelter Home of this type in India. This is a project to shelter the women who are the victim of domestic violence, physical or mental or sexual or economical or others. The Shelter Home provides counselling, food, medicine, cloth, medical treatment, free legal aid and vocational trainings to domestic violence victims. It is a temporary shelter. It also providing education to children of victims and referring the inmates for job by providing vocational and skill development training. The shelter home is working to re-unite the families by solving their problems through counselling which will help them to lead happy married life. The number of beneficiaries per year is above 150

HOME FOR DISABLED PERSONS
Rehabilitation centre for the Disabled was started on 01-09-2008. In this house we are sheltering all sorts of disabled persons, the blind, the deaf, differently abled, persons with Locomotor Disability etc. But in this center all sorts of destitute are admitted. We are providing utmost care to all of them and are provided with nourished food, clean cloths, shelter, medicines etc. Further we are providing Skill Development Training and recreational facilities. More than 150 people are accommodated here including a few number of differently abled Children

PSYCHO- SOCIAL REHABILITATION HOME FOR MENTALLY ILLNESS PERSONS
Gandhibhavan started a Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Centre to give rehabilitation & Shelter to the cured mentally ill persons in April 2009. Mentally ill male and female are accommodated, treated and cared thoroughly. To rejuvenate them we are arranging Arts and Cultural programmes regularly. As part of their rehabilitation, vocational training and occupational therapy also provided. The institution is recognized by Social Justice Department, Government of Kerala, Now more than 200 persons are living happily in this centre

MENTAL HEALTH REHABILITATION CENTRE
Gandhibhavan got recognition from Mental Health Authority, Govt. of Kerala, to accommodate and to provide treatment for the mentally ill patients in February 2015. Shelter and Medical Care provided to more than 200 mentally ill patients with utmost compassion and psychological support

LEGAL AID CLINIC (FREE LEGAL AID)
Gandhibhavan Neethi Bhavan’ is the most important department of Gandhibhavan which provides free legal aid to the poor and needy. This is the centre accredited centre of KELSA (Kerala Legal Services Authority) which is working directly under the control of the High Court of Kerala. National and International Adalats (on-the-spot combined legal negotiation and verdicts) are conducted regularly.
Once in three months the Adalats are conducted here with the Sitting of High Court Judges, District Court Judes, Taluk Judicial Officers and Distinguished lawyers.
In this case both parties, the petitioner and the accused, both don’t have to spare any money for legal consultations. Complaints are accepted every day in Legal Aid Clinic, Gandhibhavan Neethi Bhavan (Home for Justice). After studying the cases by expert advocates, Legal counselors and Psychologist, both parties are called and discussed about the merits of the case and finally the verdicts are proclaimed on

SERVICE PROVIDING CENTRE S PER DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ACT 2005
Any women who face mental or physical abuses at home could give complaints and petitions over here. Such complaints are taken up immediately; the opposite parties are called and will try to solve the problem through negotiations. But, if not possible, the cases will be transferred to the Legal Counselor (Female Advocate) who is deputed by the Government and will prepare a DIR (Domestic Incident Report) and will submit to the court and verdict is obtained through the court at the earliest. On several times we got orders(Protection order, Residence order, Monetary Relief, Temporary Custody of children and compensation order under protection of women from domestic violence act 2005. The service providing centre also provides counselling, medical treatment, services of clinical psychologist and doctor and skill development training

MEALS FOR ALL
Gandhibhavan appeals to the society to donate food, cloth, medicines, food articles and materials for our destitute inmates with an aim to feed the family members as well as the poor and needy public and Street wanderers.

VOCATIONAL AND SKILL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING CENTRE
Interested and inspired inmates of Gandhibhavan and the interested women and children from outside are given different vocational and occupational trainings, according to their skill and education, so that they could lead an independent life by their own earnings in their future life. A minor Production Unit also functioning inside Gandhibhavan.
Tailoring, Computer training, Soaps, Agarbathy, Candles, different types of lotions, mats made of used cloths, different stitching products, paper cover, paper bag, printing, book binding, umbrella production, ornament making etc. are carried out inside Gandhibhavan. The cured destitute inmates of Gandhibhavan are engaged after proper training based on their skill and interest

DE ADDICTION CENTRE (IRCA)
Gandhibhavan started its De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Centre in the year 2008 at Ezhamkulam near Adoor in Pathanamthitta Dist.
In this centre Drug Addicts can be admitted and could undergo treatment for a month. A combined treatment system is followed here. Psychotherapy, Individual and Family Counseling, Yoga, Meditation, Family get together etc are arranged alongwith Medication as per Govt. norms, so that the Addict could get relief from this evil menace. The treatment consists of good and healthy food, care, recreation, tour programmes etc. This programmes is implemented with the co-operation of Health, Excise, Social Justice and the support of Central Ministry of Socail Justice and Empowerment, Govt of India.
The treatment is provided by experienced and expert team of physician, psychiatrist, psychologist and different kinds of therapists. Almost 200 people per year have got treatment and got cured. Periodic follow up treatment is also provided for the

MASS MARRIAGE
68 poor girl’s marriage, including few of Gandhibhavan children were arranged and could conduct during the past 10 years.
Suitable alliances were found and all marriages were conducted in the presence of distinguished personalities from the society and with the co-operation and support of other Agencies and kind hearted philanthropic people

HOUSE DONATION
To those downtrodden homeless who are facing much difficulties to meet both ends and those having destroyed living space were provided with new homes and 7 such families were benefitted. This could accomplish with the help of the donations from the well-wishers and supporters of Gandhibhavan and envisages to continue this in future also

PENSION SCHEME FOR COMMON PUBLIC (MERCY PENSION)
We are sharing our contribution received from good hearted philanthropists to the very poor and bed-ridden patients among the general public on their written application and giving education grants to the most vulnerable and down-trodden students in the society.
Those who are very poor and bed-ridden patients at their homes are being provided with monthly financial assistance named Dayanidhi (Mercy Pension) and very poor students are being given Vidyanidhi (Education Aid). 25 persons each are benefited through the Schemes.

LIVELIHOOD ACTIVITIES
An Agricultural forum (Group)of Gandhibhavan family is functioning and those who are interested in farming and agriculture are included in this forum. Annually elected President and Secretary are orgnizers and they are elected through negotiations among Gandhibhavan family members. Vegetables and other agricultural produces are cultivated in own land, in leased lands and on available terraces. All are cultivated using bio-manures and no artificial fertilizer are used. Guidance and assistance are provided by the Krishi Bhavan, Department of Agriculture, Government of Kerala.We have received award for the best agricultural group in the year 2017. Moreover Animal farming is also doing. This include birds, honey bee, rabbit, fish, cow, goat etc. Our gardening and landscaping facility are also conducted through this group.

Environmental
We are maintaining a beautiful plantation with medicinal herbs and plants which gives our atmosphere a pleasant and peaceful environment. More than 300 types of medicinal plants are cultivated in this plantation, which includes Sandal wood, Red sandal wood, Mankosteen, Tulsi, Aloe Vera, Pepper clave, Lemon balm, Ashwagandha, Lemon Grass, Rosemary, Curry leaves, Carom, Golden show, Brahmi, Amala, Sarpa Gandhi, Satavari, Henna, Neem, Ashoka etc.
Many of our visitors happily expressed that they could found solace and peacefulness by spending some time in this forest of medicinal herbs (Oushadha Vanam).
