Karwar Diocesan Development Council aims to facilitate the socio-economic development and build the rural infrastructure in Uttar Kannada District in Read moreKarnataka. So far, KDDC has 726 Self Help Groups with over 11,500 members, 74 Grass Root Level Women Federations, 6 Taluk Level Women Federations, 1 District Level Women Federation, and 8 Youth Federations. The overall indirect beneficiaries of the organization are over 3,50,000, and it has affected 364 villages. It works towards Integrated Rural Development by promoting health and hygiene, income generation, and skill development. It conducts health awareness & check-up camps, provides care and support to people with HIV and Aids, and promotes smokeless ‘chullas.’ In addition, it works towards ensuring communities have basic human needs such as housing, household toilets, and drinking water. It also works to help advance careers, and promote employment for women and youth. The organization also works to help advance careers, promotes the employment of youth and women, and helps develop skills. It assists the underprivileged generate income through activities such as ornaments making, doll-making, coir products, vegetable cultivation, dairy farming, poultry, goat rearing, pickle-making, mushroom cultivation, and other activities. In addition, it helps people develop skills in mobile repairing, automobile repairing, kotor winding, and electrical appliances repairing. It also works to help develop agriculture through co-operative irrigation, vermi-composting, tank distillation, and checking dams. KDCC is also involved in sponsoring children, promoting children's rights, hosting children's camps, and providing formal and non-formal education. Additionally, it has collaborated with Asha Kiran Rural Industrial Training Institute at Dandeli and with Asha Niketan Residential School for physically-challenged children. KDCC’s work is supported by donations from various citizens, organizations, and agencies.
