Programs

  • Sustainable Energy and Livelihood

    Recognizing the significance of inclusive sustainable livelihoods, the organisation leverages the expertise of local communities to provide impoverished individuals with pathways out of poverty. It focuses on various livelihood sources such as sewing machines, agri-processing machines, integrated rice hullers, power hammers, and blacksmith blowers, which serve as a means towards ensuring social safety. The SELCO Foundation collaborates with key stakeholders involved in livelihood initiatives to strengthen solutions for the most disadvantaged segments of society, using sustainable energy as a catalyst for positive change. Solar-powered pottery wheels, solar-powered rope-making machines and solar-powered coir yarn-making machines are examples of SELCO’s technology-driven sustainable solutions.

  • E-Shala Digital Education Programme

    District

    Implemented in Gorur Government School, Hassan, Karnataka, the programme aims to provide educational content powered by renewable energy. It delivers Math, Science and English multi-media content for students in grades 5-10. SELCO has partnered with The Children’s Lovecastles Trust for content for this programme. The content is available in English and Kannada. SELCO Foundation provides the school with solar-powered projectors paired with technical support and services.

    SELCO Foundation strives to enhance the well-being of underserved communities through sustainable energy solutions, addressing their energy gaps and needs, and improving their quality of life. The Foundation focuses on enabling reliable energy access, especially for communities facing challenges such as lack of access, reliability, and quality. Additionally, SELCO Foundation extends its support by facilitating access to finance and establishing last-mile service networks in diverse and challenging terrains. The Foundation's approach involves tailored energy systems and solutions, innovative ownership models, and comprehensive support in financing and last-mile servicing, ensuring accessibility for vulnerable communities at the last mile.

  • Sustainable Energy and Healthcare

    The SELCO Foundation focuses on strengthening last mile health delivery systems by integrating sustainable energy solutions and promoting energy-efficient equipment in healthcare facilities. Inadequate access to energy and a lack of appropriate appliances can hinder healthcare services. A reliable energy supply is crucial for vaccine storage, the continuous operation of medical equipment, and diagnostic devices. The Foundation develops tailored solutions considering energy efficiency and optimization, enabling healthcare services in remote areas. It emphasizes financial and social innovations for long-term sustainability. Over 1,000 health facilities across India have successfully implemented its solutions, in collaboration with state governments, health departments, and civil society organisations.
