Madhya Pradesh Viklang Sahayata Samiti (MPVSS), is a not for profit oriented organization and it was established in the year 1997 to render services f Read moreor education, development and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities (PwD’s). It is registered as a society. Since its inception the society is making arduous efforts to create an inclusive society, where people with disabilities are accepted into the mainstream economy and social life. Thousands of our beneficiaries have progressed towards independence through special education and other services. They have achieved remarkable success at national and international level.It is one of the leading organizations in India, working for the people with Intellectual disabilities especially the children. We are implementing various programs and projects with the support of national , international organizations and donors. Our work is spread across four districts of M.P. - Ujjain, Shajapur, Agar, and Rajgarh.

Programs

  • Disha Cum Vikas Scheme

    MPVSS is providing befit to the PWd’s under the schemes of National trust which include Disha cum Vikas, Niramaya and Legal Guardianship Scheme . The National Trust is a statutory body of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, for the welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities. Disha Centre is established by the MPVSS as per the norms of the National Trust Act for early intervention for Person with Disability. Under the Vikas Centre we provide day care facility to the persons with autism, cerebral palsy, mental retardation andmultiple disabilities, for beneficiaries above 10 years for enhancing interpersonal and vocational skills.

  • Special Education Programme

    Special education is specially designed instructions, support, and services provided to students with an identified disability requiring an individually designed instructional programmes to meet their unique learning needs. This refers to educational programmes and practices designed for students-who are with intellectual, physical or emotional disabilities. Special schools , community centres and integrated centres are established and run by MPVSS with an aim to cater the individual needs of children with intellectual and multiple disabilities, who can not attend mainstream schools .Children with age ranging from 4-17 years are getting education in our special education schools and centers . Children attend special Schools for special training and education and therapeutic services i.e physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. Exercise, music, sports and dance are also included as a part of our regular activities .The

  • Programme For People With Deafblindness

    Madhya Pradesh Viklang Sahayata Samiti, with the support of Sense International India, has been providing multidimensional services to the people with Deafblindness and Multi sensory Impairment under the Project “SPARSH” . MPVSS is a State center of the project . It was initiated in April 2016. After identifying people with deafblindness and after their clinical tests they are assessed of their skills and capacity. Depending on their needs they are provided with homebased as well as center based services. Under home based services we train them to develop daily living skills and provide simple therapeutic interventions in the presence of members of their family. For center based services we have special infrastructure including common training hall and a sensory training unit.

  • Inclusive Development Of Children And Youngsters With Disabilities In Association Lilliane Foundation , Netherlands

    Inclusive development of children and youngsters with disabilities is a programme supported by Lillian Foundation, Netherlands through its Strategic Partner Organization in India; Jan Vikas Samiti, Varanasi. Madhya Pradesh Viklang Sahayta Samiti is implementing the project successfully since seven years. This project has two components : one is child development (CD) and the other is enabling environment (EE). Child development component includes making the school accessible to the children with disabilities, provide them therapeutic intervention and make the children resilient and selfaware. We also try to provide the necessary facilities like transport , assistive devices, fees , uniform , therapeutic intervention services with the help of local resources and schemes.

Journey of Success
Madhya Pradesh Viklang Sahayata Samiti (MPVSS) was established on 1 Dec 1997 with a noble mission to render services for education, development and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities
In the year 1998 a new Society with the name Madhya Pradesh Viklang Sahayta Samiti (MPVSS) was registered . ( Registration no 2007 dated 2nd June 1998)
In the initial stages MPVSS hired a small room for at Bagpura Basti and started providing them basic training and education to the special children
Manovikas Special School was opened in the premises of St. Mary’s School Ujjain on December 1, 1998 which ran successfully .
As work has been advanced, a full time special school in Ujjain was required , diocese purchased a building at Subhash Nagar in 1999. Special School was run for 2 years and then developed as Vocational training Centre .
In the year 2002 year a land was purchased for from Ujjain Development Authority in sector 9, Jawahar Nagar to develop a well-furnished school. On 2nd October 2003 ground floor of the new building was blessed .On 23rd November 2003 new building was inaugurated by Shri Satyanarayan Jatia, then Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment government of India.
in 2003 November , Manovikas Special School was shifted to its new premises at sector 9 ,Jawahar Nagar , Ujjain . Later on Vocational training centre from Subhash Nagar was also shifted in the same premises , with all facilities of training and production .
At present this school is developed with different facilities like physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy .These therapy services are helping early intervention of several children with various disabilities
The second special school Navjyoti Special School was opened at Shajapur On 25 June 1999 .In the year, 2007 new building was inaugurated .
The third special school Prem Pragati Special School with residential school for the children with intellectual disability was opened at Rajgarh in collaboration with district administration on 2nd October 1999.
Later on MPVSS also established Integrated centres at Nagda, Shujalpur,Agar Malwa and Biora in collaboration with formal schools of diocese for providing inclusive education .
Established one community centre at Harsidhi area of Ujjain Urban in 2001 to serve special education needs for Cwd’s of the backward urban community
In the year 2002 MPVSS had also stepped into the field of Human Resource Development by starting caregivers training programme of the National Trust.In 2004 MPVSS was recognized as the Study Centre of Bhoj open University Bhopal to run different courses in the field of Disabilities.

In year 2003 MPVSS has opened Samarth, Respite Care Centre at Harsodan with the support of the National Trust, New Delhi. Then parish priest Fr, Joseph Plappilli has done all the necessary preparation at mission station level to start the programme. This centre was shifted to Chandessary in 2007.
Samarth centre is now proposed as permanent stay home . On the auspicious occasion of the golden jubilee of the Diocese of Ujjain on 18th Nov. 2019, His Beatitude George Cardinal Alenchery, Major Archbishop of Syro-Malabar church blessed and laid the foundation stone of Permanent Stay Home for the people with intellectual and multiple disabilities at village Chandesary of Ujjain.
In 2004 Foundation Course on disabilities of MP Bhoj Open University and Diploma and P.G. Diploma in CBR by Bangalore University were also started. In 2005, MPVSS was selected for running B.Ed. Special Education in distance mode (B.Ed.SEDE) by MPBOU
First State level Cultural and Sports competition for special children “Ullas” was stared in the year 2005 . Now it is the only state level programme for special children which is being organized in every two years.

In the year 2007 Certificate of Appreciation to MPVSS received from the Chief Minister of M.P. for the outstanding work done for the persons with disabilities

In the Year 2008 Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India awarded prestigious National Award to MPVSS under category of Best NGO for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. Father Thomas C.T had received the award from Honourable Vice President of India Hamid Ansari on 3rd Dec 2008, on the occasion of World Disability Day.

In 2008, with the support of Sight Savers International MPVSS had launched a Community Based programme in the Tarana block of Ujjain district with the name ‘Comprehensive eye health care CBR programme’.Programme was continued till 2011

In the Year 2009 MPVSS started Children with special Need (CWSN) Hostel with the support of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan under IED scheme in Khilchipur –Ujjain .The other CWSN hostel was also started after one year in Shajapur .

Inclusive Development project for Children and Youngsters with disabilities was started as a CBR project in 2012 . Under the project children with special needsi are provided with the home visits ,physiotherapy, tuition fee , transport facility ,school and uniform etc with the support of Jan Vikas Samiti , Varanasi .

MPVSS had achieved another milestone in the year 2015 with the establishment of Manovikas college of Special Education to meet the demand of human resources in the field of special education .College conducts regular B.Ed. and D.Ed. in Special education programmes approved by RCI

In collaboration with district administrations Ujjain and Shajapur MPVSS has started District Disability Rehabilitation Centres (DDRC) at Ujjain and Shajapur in 2015 and 2016 respectively. The DDRC’s continued till 2019.
In the year 2016 Madhya Pradesh Viklang Sahayata Samiti, with the support of Sense International India, opened the avenues to the people with deafblindness under the project “Sparsh”. The goal of this project is the development and rehabilitation of deafblind people through identification and assessment of their skill and capacity. The project also aims to educate and train people as per their needs. Now MPVSS is State Centre of Deafblindness.
