Focuses on students from low-income urban and semi-urban families with the aim of training them in basic Arithmetic, English Reading and English Profi Read moreciency. The target group is first-generation school-goers from families with a monthly income of less than US Dollars 300. It identifies the problem area as inability of these children to perform simple arithmetical calculations or to comprehend basic English even after spending 5 years in school. The solution is provided through equipping schools and teachers with necessary tools and skills to conduct effective, activity based practice/remedial classes for skill building in children at a foundational level. The class structure follows the course of train-assess-support-report where training sessions are followed by regular assessments of learning levels of children. This enables teaching at the right level (TaRL) by determining what the student actually knows, as opposed to age or grade based teaching. The work is primarily aimed at overcoming the inadequacy of primary education at low-fee schools and equipping every child with the necessary language comprehension and arithmetic skills for their years ahead. It plans to reach 1 million school students through its activities.
