Udaipur pilot- Cash rellief

Each individual is unique, with distinct needs and aspirations. Cash provides the impoverished with the flexibility to allocate resources according to their own priorities. Some may choose to invest in healthcare and education, while others may opt to take entrepreneurial risks and establish small businesses. Our hypothesis asserts that providing unconditional cash transfers to the ultra-poor can facilitate their journey out of poverty.
In India, the latest rural poverty line stands at Rs. 972 per month. For an average household of four, this amounts to Rs. 3,888 per month. Consequently, each household will receive a lump sum of Rs. 96,000, equivalent to what they might have managed to save over a period of approximately three years.
The total cost of this pilot project is estimated at Rs. 38 lakhs. Of this, Rs. 32.6 lakhs will directly fund the cash transfers, with the remainder allocated for overhead expenses such as fundraising, transfer fees, operational costs, etc.
