Annamrita is a Midday meal programme (a programme of the Government of India) implemented by the ISKCON Food Relief Foundation (IFRF) in different sch Read moreools across India. It aims to provide nutritious meals to thousands of children and contribute towards bringing children to school every day. Annamrita claims to serve 1.2 million meals every day, through 20 kitchens and 6500+ schools across 21 cities in India. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan donated free meals for 1000 school kids for one year on her 44th birthday, through the organisation. The public charitable trust was formed on April 23, 2004, and registered under the Bombay Public Trusts Act, of 1950. Its kitchens at various locations have received ISO9001:2000. It has been awarded IMC Ramakrishna Bajaj National Quality Award and has been applauded by Dr Kalam and Dr Pranab Mukherjee for its work.

Impact

Through Annamrita Karuna programme it has distributed : 1,62,55,882 meals in Maharashtra - Via 6 kitchens, 21,52,700 meals in Delhi- Via 1 kitchen, 26,91,806 meals in Jharkhand - Via 1 kitchen, 33,87,665 meals in Haryana - Via 2 kitchens, 3,54,441 meals in Andhra Pradesh - Via 2 kitchens, 23,500 meals in Rajasthan - Via 1 kitchen, 84,091 meals in West Bengal - Via 1 kitchen, 20,400 meals in Tripura - Via 1 kitchen, Through Karuna Hospital Programme the total meals served to hospital staff is 3,85,642, It distributed 17,00,000 Kits of Joy in Andhra Pradesh, 1,56,33,327 in Rajasthan and 5,41,000 kits in West Bengal and through its mid-day meals programme it reached more than 10,00,000 children with 12,00,000 plus meals in 6500 plus schools across 21 cities.

Our vision is to serve nutritious and sanctified high quality food to the underprivileged children in India. In line with the objectives of the Mid Day Meal project our Goal is to increase enrolment in schools, reduce malnutrition and ensure no child is deprived of an Education due to Poverty and Hunger.

Our mission is to liberate the underprivileged children from the vicious cycle of poverty and illiteracy by serving them wholesome nutritious meals. Our aim is to Promote Education One Meal at a Time by providing nutritious, wholesome, hygienic meals prepared in hi-tech kitchens which not only nourish the body but also nurture the soul.

Programs

  • Kit of Joy Programme

    To help children who had lost access to mid-day meals due to closures arising from the pandemic. Annamrita donated dry ration kits to these children and affected communities through its kitchens spread across the country. The kit contains essentials like rice, flour, pulses, sugar, salt, cooking oil and spices.

  • Karuna Hospital Programme

    District

    To assist frontline workers in serving COVID patients, Annamrita set out to supply healthcare staff like doctors, nurses, assistant staff, pathology staff and assistants with freshly prepared, nutritious meals.

  • Municipal Staff Feeding Programme

    Municipal staff are working round the clock to ensure sanitation and act as a primary deterrent to stop the pandemic from spreading further. To show appreciation to these workers the organisation supplies a full course meal to them in the Maintenance, Public Health, Water, Social Justice, Disaster Management, and Solid Waste Management departments.

  • Annamrita Mid-day Meals Programme

    It works to implement mid-day meal programmes in Government and Government aided schools to ensure that children attend school and pursue education. It has set up kitchens across eight states in twelve cities to serve children; the work is carried out without any profit motive and is available to all children irrespective of religion, caste, creed or gender.

  • Annamrita Karuna Programme

    It provides healthy and hygienic relief meals to people impacted by the pandemic losing their jobs, resources and livelihoods. It has mobilized kitchens across the country that cook meals in two shifts and delivered them to organisations and needy people.

  • Kit of Joy

    Since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the country, hunger has threatened millions of Indians more than ever. Women and children are the worst impacted. Several school-going children lost access to mid-day meals. Witnessing the situation, we realized the need to redirect our efforts toward feeding the most impacted communities in India. Leveraging our kitchens across the country, the Kit Of Joy program focuses on delivering healthy and wholesome nutrition in the form of dry rations and provisions. Each Kit Of Joy donated to a child consists of: Rice Flour Moong dal Chana dal Sugar Salt Cooking Oil Turmeric Powder Chilli Powder We have already served more than 8 crore Kits of Joy to people in 8 states. Your small initiative can double this figure, ultimately helping more and more unprivileged people in tough times.

  • Annamrita Mid-Day Meal

    Annamrita has long resolved to uplift the health status of children by liberating them from the vicious cycle of Illiteracy and Malnutrition by providing them nutritious and hygienic mid-day meals prepared in hi-tech kitchen which nourishes the body and improves the nutritional status among young children. Its mid day meal program is being implemented in municipal, government aided and non-aided schools for the benefit of underprivileged children. The work is done without any commercial motive and the benefits are available to needy students at large without any discrimination on the grounds of religion, caste, creed or gender. Since the launch of the school lunch program, Annamrita has set up state-of-the-art kitchens in 8 states and 21 cities namely; Tardeo, Mahula, Mira Bhayandar, Nigdi, Palghar, Aurangabad, Wada, Nagpur, Jalna, Delhi, Jamshedpur, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Kurukshetra, Palwal, Kolkata, Jaipur, kadapa, Nellore, Rajamundary, Ranganarra Gadda, and Tirupati.

  • Annamrita Karuna Project

    On 25th March 2020, when the nation came to a standstill against the spread of the pandemic, lakhs of people lost access to income, resources, and daily meals. At this point, the Annamrita Foundation decided to leverage its kitchens across the nation to do more than just serve mid day meals. We began delivering healthy and hygienic COVID relief meals to those stranded in the lockdown.
