The One All Trust was founded in Chennai (2016) to improve the lives of youth in underserved communities in India. The organization uses the sport of Read moreultimate frisbee as a tool to run at-school and after-school values education programs for boys and girls 13-17 years old. Ultimate Frisbee (or simply, ‘ultimate’) is a self-refereed, mixed gender, non-contact team sport that is low cost, easy to learn, and can be played anywhere. Ultimate is unique because it is governed by the Spirit of the Game, which makes it an ideal tool for developing values and socio-emotional competencies in young people. Partnering with local schools and community-based organizations, One All’s programs provide a safe and inclusive space for weekly instruction and time with mentors. Our facilitators help young people develop communication skills, hear and express feelings, and work on conflict resolution and empathy. They support them to be aware of their feelings, actions, and consequences in order to help them cope with stressful situations. Lastly, our programs focus on gender, sex and sexuality: being aware of and breaking gender stereotypes perpetuated by the media, peers, or community; and concepts of gender and security. To date, One All has worked with around 4,350 youth at marginalised communities and schools in India.
Issue
Underprivileged youth face a host of issues- early marriage, gender inequality, school dropouts, substance abuse, domestic violence, and a lack of access to employment/education opportunities, trapping disadvantaged communities in an unending cycle of poverty. Lack of support leaves adolescents ignorant of options to improve their lives, build skills they need to access and leverage opportunities to break out of this cycle. We believe working with youth will help build equitable, just and resilient communities.
Action
We use a mixed-gender, self-refereed, low cost sport (Ultimate Frisbee) to unite people. It emphasises conflict resolution. Our S4D programs help youth gain support systems, self confidence, resilience & exposure to tackle issues in their community.

Adivasi Fellowship Program
The One All Adivasi Fellowship is a 2 year immersive inter-sectional program for 16 adivasi youth from 13 villages in the Nilgiris district. The goal is to build a team of passionate, self-confident and resilient Community Facilitators who empower the next generation of Adivasi children through the medium of mixed gender sport. We use our approach explained above to engage with the Fellows.
At the end of the Fellowship Program, we envision that the Fellows would have:
- Become ultimate frisbee coaches, facilitators and players
- Developed critical thinking and leadership skills
- Become champions for gender equity in their communities
- A Fellows team that support and challenge each other
- A forum to talk about larger issues in their communities
- Gained exposure to understand how their own communities and the outside world function, and the relationship between the two
- Gained exposure to issues regarding health, education, finance and digital information through our partner organisations; and actively engage with their communities in solving these
- Access to two years of employment, with One All post the Fellowship program to start sports-for-development centres in their own villages
