OmiX (OmiX Research and Diagnostics Laboratories Private Limited) works with the aim of developing DNA testing technology for diagnosis of infectious Read morediseases and detection of pathogen presence in food, water and environment. The diagnostic device presently on offer works on molecular diagnosis and functions in a manner similar to home-based glucose testing devices, making use of a few drops of blood on an innovative disposable bio-chip to detect pathogen presence. The device is fitted with a DNA reader and the chip is fitted with an assay and a proprietary enrichment. Their vision is to make use of innovative technology to facilitate cost-effective out of laboratory DNA testing in under-served and underprivileged areas for reduction of cost of treatment, morbidity, mortality and risk of complications to the patient due to delayed or ineffective treatment. In recognition of their efforts, they have been awarded with the Longitude Prize Discovery award from Nesta. They have received funding from the Indian Government through the Biotechnology Ignition Grant.
