  • Since

    2001

Agragami India is dedicated to creating sustainable improvements in the quality of life for the rural and urban poor by tackling the root causes of mu Read moreltidimensional poverty—such as poor health and sanitation, lack of education, and limited livelihood opportunities. The organization's programs focus on providing information, education, and skills that empower communities, particularly women and young adults, to adopt positive behaviors and access essential services in health, sanitation, education, skill development, and income generation. Agragami’s development initiatives are concentrated in Bihar and the low-income settlements of the National Capital Region. In addition to its direct interventions, Agragami also enhances the capacity of community outreach workers, both within government and non-government sectors. Founded in 2001 by a group of development professionals with a shared vision of improving the lives of vulnerable families, Agragami India is registered as a society under the Societies Registration Act of 1860, XXI. The organization holds FCRA registration and enjoys tax exemptions under Sections 12A and 80G of the Indian Income Tax Act. Agragami is also registered on NITI Aayog’s NGO Darpan portal and with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs for conducting CSR activities.

Programs

  • MANSI

The American India Foundation’s (AIF) MANSI program targets adolescent girls in the remote, hilly, and underdeveloped areas of Paderu Mandal in Visakhapatnam district, Andhra Pradesh, and the mountainous villages of Haridwar block in Uttarakhand. AIF selected Agragami to enhance the skills of frontline communicators working with these adolescent girls in both states.

The program’s goal is to empower these girls with essential adolescent health education, addressing issues such as undernutrition, anemia, menstrual hygiene, early sexual debut, early marriage, and childbearing. Additionally, the girls received crucial information on newborn care, which they can apply when they become mothers at an appropriate age.

Agragami provided the communicators with the necessary materials and tools to effectively engage with and educate the adolescents.
