Since
2012
The E & H Foundation started on a journey, commencing its operations in Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh. Its primary focus lies in providing quality educat Read moreion to over 19,000 children in classes 1 to 5. A special aspect of its efforts is supporting first-generation learners, with over 50% being girls. To address the demand for scalable solutions in education, the organisation has established enduring partnerships with two programme partners, eight corporate partners, and a network of more than 500 dedicated individuals since its inception. Its decision to concentrate on Uttar Pradesh is driven by its prominence as the largest state in India and the fifth-largest administrative unit globally, trailing only behind China, India, the USA, and Indonesia. As part of the Empowered Action Group (EAG) states, Uttar Pradesh faces developmental challenges, falling significantly behind the Millennium Development targets set for the country. Given the state's relatively low Human Development Index (HDI), the E & H Foundation is dedicated to advancing its work in Uttar Pradesh, contributing to India's development by uplifting the state's prospects.

Rural Model Programme
In pursuit of a replicable and sustainable education model, E&H Foundation collaborated with Bharti Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises, in 2012. Together, they established three primary schools in Farrukhabad district, Uttar Pradesh, catering to 720 students from Class 1 to 5. The aim of this partnership is to create a replicable model that can be adopted by the Government, educational institutions, and other like-minded organisations to foster widespread educational development.

Urban Model Programme
Partnering with Gyanshala, E&H Foundation runs a successful non-government school education programme for underprivileged children in urban areas. Operating in nine districts across four states in India, the cost-effective and scalable model has positively impacted the lives of more than 250,000 children since its inception in 2000. With a specific focus on addressing the lack of quality education in Uttar Pradesh, one of India's most underserved states, E&H Foundation collaborated with Gyanshala in 2013. Currently, E&H supports the education of approximately 6,200 students, primarily from urban slums in Farrukhabad and Lucknow districts, with 50% of the beneficiaries being girls.
