Going to School is a creative nonprofit education organisation that employs design-based stories to equip millions of children and youth with vital 21 Read morest Century Sustainable Entrepreneurial skills, enabling them to address Climate Change in their local communities. Its initiatives are broadcasted on national TV, and online platforms, and implemented in 3,000 Government Schools across India, ensuring access for offline students in the Government school system. The organisation's approach revolves around innovative design and prioritizes the desires of young individuals. Through extensive programmes, it aims to provide holistic education and facilitate successful transitions to sustainable enterprises, particularly focusing on empowering girls. By nurturing Climate Change entrepreneurs, the goal is to drive impactful change, transforming cities into sustainable playgrounds. From Grades 4-12 (ages 6-17), both within and beyond school premises, Going to School's programmes operate in four states: Bihar, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Goa, engaging students during school hours and supporting start-up sustainable entrepreneurs aged 18 and above.

Outdoor School for Girls Programme
The Outdoor School for Girls empowers Indian girls to address Climate Change through a unique blend of football and outdoor skill learning. It introduces football into the school timetable, allowing girls to play and learn the sport during regular hours. They alternate between three days of football and three days of outdoor skill sessions, including Sustainable Enterprise and Digital Skills. The organisation aims to impact 2.7 million girls by 2025 through partnerships with Government schools in areas like Goa, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. A documentary-style TV series showcases girls engaging in both football and skill activities, spreading awareness nationally. This initiative originated during the pandemic with a beach football league for girls in North Goa, leading to a broader mission inspired by the film "Goal Goa." The Outdoor School for Girls exemplifies the commitment to empowering girls by combining football and skill education.

Get a Plan
StateIn collaboration with Bihar Government and supported by IKEA Foundation, "Going to School" has developed "Get a Plan," a series of graphic novels. These novels equip young individuals with sustainable, entrepreneurial skills essential for completing their education and transitioning to a chosen sustainable enterprise. This programme operates outdoors, where students within Government schools opt for green enterprise internships. Working alongside sustainable entrepreneurs in sectors like clean energy and organic farming, participants gain practical experience in Climate Change solutions. Each intern receives a graphic novel to read over 21 days. The curriculum is delivered through internships and interactive projects, involving market analysis and enhancing enterprise sustainability. Dedicated "Going to School" teams track attendance, conduct quizzes, and evaluate progress.

State"Going to School" presents "Goal Goa," a remarkable film that embarked on a journey across Goa during the pandemic, following football enthusiasts and the monsoon. This film explores the deep connection between Goans and football while unexpectedly uncovering the path forward. Recognizing that teaching girls football in Indian schools could encourage their engagement, the organisation established "The Outdoor School for Girls." Through this initiative, girls in Goa, Mumbai, and Bengaluru engage in week-long activities outdoors, combining football and essential skills. This effort was inspired by the film "Goal Goa," which was created during the monsoon season and showcases the potential of merging education and sports to address pressing issues like Climate Change.

Young Entrepreneurs Skill School Programme
Going to School runs the Young Entrepreneurs Skills School in Marathi, aiming to equip students with practical entrepreneurial skills. Through a 26-part TV series called the Yuwa Udhyojak Kaushalya Show, students in grades 9-12 learn skills essential for their chosen careers. Premiering on DD Sahyadri, the state-run TV channel, the show covers various sectors like beekeeping, organic farming, coding, and sustainable entrepreneurship. Hosted by Sharvaree Lahade and Akshay Jadhav, the series encourages active participation and offers prizes, including graphic novels portraying young entrepreneurs. These novels contain adventure stories, branding guidelines, and projects, preparing students to transition from school to work or start their enterprises. The initiative also provides an app for convenient access, fostering skill development for a promising future.

School TV Programme
Going to School operates School TV, a Doordarshan Bihar & Doordarshan Rajasthan series, which offers a range of practical skills for employability and entrepreneurship to young individuals. Led by experts, the DIY series covers diverse topics, from beekeeping to DIY organic home cleaners, composting, starting budget-friendly enterprises, coding, and more. This educational initiative encompasses over 200 Master Class episodes created during the lockdown by experts who shared their knowledge in Hindi. Broadcasted on DD channels in Bihar and Rajasthan, with Government support, the show reaches over 20 million children daily. Additionally, BT and Oracle volunteers contributed episodes, spanning IT, communications, and exercise's significance. "School TV" serves as a platform for learning life skills at home, reaching a million children with valuable lessons.
