Lupin Human Welfare & Research Foundation (LHWRF) is the social responsibility arm of Lupin Limited, founded by Dr. Desh Bandhu Gupta in 1988. In its Read morejourney spanning over three decades, the foundation has impacted more than 1.57 million beneficiaries across 4700 villages in 24 districts, spread across eight states in India. LHWRF works in collaboration with corporate houses, government departments, professionals and international organisations to create livelihood and employment opportunities in the rural areas. It also provides for basic infrastructure with an aim to empower marginalised communities. Throughout its journey, the foundation has primarily focused on creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and fostering economic growth in some of the most underdeveloped districts in India. It adopts a family-centered approach and initiates measures to help break the cycle of poverty, thus making a positive impact on the lives and livelihoods of the beneficiaries.

The Livelihoods Program has been a critical and instrumental element of our development efforts for the last decade. With a drive to create a profound impact, the livelihoods program focuses on establishing sustainable solutions for the disadvantaged and vulnerable communities. Capacity building, natural resource management, livestock development, strengthening grassroots value chains, and improving farmers' market access are vital components of our Livelihoods strategy. The Lives Program focuses on enriching the quality of life within communities and ensuring better access to healthcare services. A strategic engagement aimed at strengthening health systems to address Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Cardiovascular Diseases (CVDs) stands as an irreplaceable building block of our Lives strategy.

IMPACT OF LIVELIHOODS PROGRAM Agriculture & Animal Husbandry: - Land covered under the Wadi project: 6,536 acres, benefiting 6,491 farmers - Individuals benefited from improved vegetable cultivation: 48,143 across 23,547 acres of land - Farmers participated in the Better Cotton Initiative: 95,141 - Goat units supported: 35,025, benefiting 14,872 families - Cattle induction for dairy development: 7,125 Natural Resource Management: - Land under watershed development activities: 4,875 hectares - Group wells constructed: 341 ( 5 families in each Group well) - Trees planted: 9,08,485 through plantation drives - Water recharge potential created: 5,117,292 cubic meters - Water harvesting structures constructed: 502 benefiting 21,030 rural families IMPACT OF LIVES PROGRAM - Patients Screened: Over 1,25,000 individuals screened for NCDs across 673 villages in target regions. - Treatment Provided: 16,000+ high-risk individuals diagnosed and treated with free medications. - Health Camps: 920 MMV camps conducted, serving as accessible healthcare hubs. - Promote Healthy Lifestyle: Over 18 open gyms were set up. - Awareness Initiatives: 300+ street plays and 920 wall paintings executed to educate communities. - Capacity Building: 250+ healthcare workers trained in advanced diagnostic and treatment protocols.
