    Miracle Foundation India involves itself in two core initiatives, it trains social workers, Government officials and caregivers to reconsider recommending children be separated from their families and put into childcare institutions. These front-line workers are imparted training to intervene before situations force the child to be taken away from families. It believes that children separated from their families always crave the love and care of family, thus ensuring every child has a family for optimum growth and development.

    Its second intervention focuses on reuniting such children with their families who could have lived a family life but could not because of being separated. In most cases, such children end up in orphanages, which may expose them to sexual abuse and psychological trauma, consequently creating sex workers and convicts out of them. The organisation attempts to reinstate the children back into their families in a safe, stable and permanent manner.

This involves providing assistance to both the Government and childcare institutions to ensure a smooth and successful transition process. Additionally, it aims to strengthen families that have received children transitioning back home across five key domains of well-being.

  • Strengthening Families Programme

    The programme aims to strengthen child protection and prevent the separation of children from their families by implementing effective gatekeeping measures through the social workforce. The first focus is to enhance the capacity of Child Protection functionaries in the four states regarding Family Strengthening - Family Based Alternative Care (FS - FBAC), standards of care in Child Care Institutions (CCIs), restoration processes, and case management. The second objective is to build the skills and knowledge of selected CCI functionaries in the four states through Master Trainers, in the same aspects. Additionally, the programme aims to demonstrate a scalable and replicable pilot model in specific sites, including slums and villages in Maharashtra and Gujarat, highlighting the effectiveness of family strengthening and the activation of community networks.
