Corporate Social Responsibility
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) emphasizes that corporations have a responsibility to contribute to the economic, social, and environmental development of society. The introduction of the Companies Act in 2013 made CSR a statutory obligation for eligible companies in India, requiring them to allocate a certain percentage of their net profits towards CSR initiatives. The Rotary Foundation operates through its associate foundation, Rotary Foundation (India) [RF (I)], which is registered as a society and holds tax exemption status. RF (I) partners with corporations to implement CSR projects aligned with their core principles, focusing on sustainable and impactful humanitarian efforts. Community-based Rotary Clubs design and execute service projects to ensure long-term sustainability and maximize their outcomes. Since October 2016, RF (I) has expanded its partnership base and undertaken Pan India CSR operations to further its humanitarian mission.
