Sampark Foundation was set up in 2005 by Anupama Nayar and Vineet Nayar, former Vice Chairman and CEO of HCL Technologies and author of Harvard Busine Read moress Press bestseller Employees First: Customer Second”, with a belief that ‘frugal innovation’ and its effective implementation in partnership with the government can drive large-scale improvement in learning outcomes. This thought prompted our founders to dedicate their lives to this advancing the cause of primary education in the country. Tech-driven innovation forms the core of our transformative program known as the Sampark Smart Shala which in its current form was launched in 2015. We believe in innovations that are frugal, simple and easy-to- scale; the cost of the entire intervention is just $1 per child per annum. Sampark Smart Shala uses five critical innovations—a rechargeable audio device, 3-D TLMS, board games, multimedia workbooks, and Sampark mobile app. We are currently working in 84,000 schools in six states -- Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh, impacting 1 crore children. Our goal is to significantly improve the quality of education for 20 million children by 2025 across 200,000 schools in 7 states. Our Vision is ‘No child left behind'.
