EFFORT (Eco-Foundation for Research and Training) was established on 14-11-1996 as a civil society to support rural and urban poor in India. Currently Read more active in Khammam, Mahabubabad, and Warangal districts, it undertakes development initiatives in health, women’s empowerment, child labour eradication, environmental awareness, and income generation. The organization is supported by government agencies and donors like DRDA, the Ministry of Environment and Forest, HEKS India, and the ITC-Social Forestry Programme.

Child Labour Rehabilitation Programme
StateWe implemented the 'Child Labor Back to School' programme for seven years, from 2007 to 2014 with the support of the Project Director, NCLP (Balavelugu). We identified the nearest town to the living place of the children and established a school for them (Rehabilitation – cum-Welfare centre). We imparted formal / non-formal education and provided supplementary nutrition/ food, stipend and health care services to the children. We provided schooling up to the 5th class, and after that, we enrolled the children in Govt. Hostels and schools.

HIV/AIDS – Awareness Programme
StateWe organized an HIV/AIDS awareness program with our volunteers. We organized stalls and cultural programs for the public. In these stalls, we exhibited posters/pamphlets, IEC materials and condom demonstration and distribution. The Cultural team members had done role plays, and street dramas on HIV/AIDS prevention through Kalajatha with the support of the local well-wishers and local donors. We organized programmes at Konijerla Mandal, Khammam District and Maripeda Mandal, Warangal District.

Food Sovereignty Programme
EFFORT initiated a program on "Food Sovereignty and Tribal Land Rights" in Maripeda Mandal, Warangal district, with support from the HEKS India Program. The initiative identified 1,003 land rights holders across 18 habitations, focusing on their holistic development. These families received support for land mobilization and development, along with the promotion of local food grains, vegetable seeds, and sustainable farming practices.

Child Rights
The project "Securing Child Rights through Faith-Based Organizations in Telangana," implemented by the Centre for World Solidarity with support from UNICEF, is being executed in Khammam District through EFFORT. In line with the project guidelines and proposal, a dedicated team was recruited to drive the initiative.
EFFORT identified and engaged 20 Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs) across the district to promote child rights. The project further expanded its reach to 13 Gram Panchayats and 7 slums spread across 4 mandals, strengthening its grassroots engagement and ensuring broader community participation in safeguarding children's rights.

Women Empowerment
The organization is actively implementing women empowerment projects aimed at enhancing women’s participation in development programs and ensuring they receive their rightful benefits. Special attention is given to single women, Dalit, Adivasi, and women with disabilities, with efforts focused on reducing violence against women through awareness programs and para-legal training.
With support from Christian Aid through Gramya, women sanghas have been formed in 25 villages to address gender-based violence. The initiative currently operates in 22 villages of Konijerla and Bonakal Mandals in Khammam district, and 28 villages of Maripeda and Mahabubabad Mandals in Mahabubabad district.

HEKS / EPER Programme Implemented through APFLR
StateEFFORT is working to enhance the quality of life of Scheduled Tribe families in Telangana by promoting land mobilization and sustainable livelihoods. The initiative spans 74 villages across 16 mandals in six districts—Mahabubabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Jayashankar Bhupalapalli, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Nalgonda, and Nagarkurnool—reaching over 6,000 families through six Mandal Coordinators.
This program, supported by the HEKS India Programme, primarily focuses on tribal communities including the Lambadi, Koya, and Chenchu, aiming to build resilience and secure long-term development outcomes.
