Programs

  • SERI Food Distribution

The Socio‑Economic Research Institute (SERI), a registered charitable trust in India under the Indian Trust Act of 1882, runs a vibrant Food Distribution initiative. As a core program, it delivers monthly ration kits—comprising rice, lentils, cooking oil, sugar, salt, and other essential staples—to socio-economically vulnerable families, including the elderly, women-headed households, and those with disabilities. Volunteers and community leaders rigorously identify beneficiaries to ensure fairness. For instance, a November 2023 distribution in Tamil Nadu served over 200 families, helping meet their nutritional needs and strengthening community resilience. This program is a key pillar of SERI’s mission to combat hunger and improve livelihoods.

  • Health Camp

The Socio‑Economic Research Institute (SERI) organized a comprehensive two‑day preventive health camp in early January 2023 at Islampur, Nalanda district in Bihar. Supported by RAILTEL Limited under its CSR initiative and inaugurated by Lok Sabha MP Shri Kaushlendra Kumar, the camp offered free basic health screenings—including diabetes and hypertension checks—as well as distribution of nutritional supplements and medication for common illnesses. Conducted at a middle school, the event screened approximately 2,500 community members, encompassing women, children, elderly, and people with disabilities. Referrals were arranged for further medical attention when necessary.

  • Sansad Khel Mahakumbh

The Socio‑Economic Research Institute (SERI) organizes the Sansad Khel Mahakumbh, a vibrant multi-sport festival in Balasore, Odisha. Launched in June 2019 and held from February 16–28, 2024, the event featured community‑centric "Total Sports Play 11"—including Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Kho‑Kho, Athletics, Mini Marathon, Tug of War and Yogasanas—across men’s, women’s, junior and senior categories.

Spanning 11 blocks and 37,000 participants, the tournament unfolded in two stages: district‑level qualifiers followed by a grand finals at Permit Field. Each athlete received kits, equipment and refreshments. More than a competition, it served as a celebration of inclusivity, teamwork, strategy and community spirit—bringing together generations and fostering physical, mental and social development .
